Chatty- Bring on BABY New Year!!!
Just got back from consult with RE. I have my Lap scheduled for Thursday next week. 3:15...they may make me stay the night I don't want to but, if that is what needs to happen then so be it. We did not talk very much about the IVF cy. I will need to schedule another consult after the Lap. I will be able to start the IVF cy the cy after my lap...so next cy. I go in Wed morning for a hysteroscopy and pre-op.
Joanna- again!!! I am so happy for you & DP she must be relieved to know those are pg hormones and not PMS!!!

Re: Chatty- Bring on BABY New Year!!!
Hi everyone-
We're back with my baby cousin in tow.
Patty- Will you be able to start IVF right away after the Lap? We scheduled mine in late August and had to wait until the November cycle. I had to do an "off" cycle- we did our hysteroscopy that month- and then 1 month of BCPs/Lupron suppression before starting.
Shannon- I'm sorry to hear about ! Bummer. I know the disappointment is tough.
A- 18 is good! I can't believe how fast this cycle is going for you!
We go in Wednesday for our consult. If we can't use DP's eggs, my backup plan is to do a donor egg/donor sperm cycle. This will be WAY less of a wait than donor embryos!

Re: Chatty- Bring on BABY New Year!!!
According to my RE's website- it says the donor egg cycle is $11,000. But I have a feeling there is more added on. (My IVF cycle started at $7000, but I had to pay for anesthesia, and we did ICSI because of the results of my cycle as a donor for my aunt years ago. Our total ended up being $9850.) I think that it will be around $13,000-$14,000. Hopefully not much more.
Donor embryos through my doctors' office are only for patients that have done failed IVF cycles. It costs the price of a FET which is $2300. A friend of mine is on the waiting list, and she may have to wait at least 6 months. I also don't know if they have a "marriage" stipulation for the embryos or not. (The psychologist who works in the office says she doesn't think so, and that we are their "favorite lesbian couple" so he might bend the rules anyway. We'll see on Wednesday.)
Patty- That's great that you could start so soon! Do you know what your protocol would be? Or will you find out after the lap?

Re: Chatty- Bring on BABY New Year!!!
I don't know yet what my protocol will be. I will make another consult apt after the lap, while I am waiting for
I did find out from the nurse yesterday that they do not do the pio shots(only reason it came up is I told her that those are the only thing I fear about IVF) they do the suppositories unless you have a problem with them. This may be TMI, but I read somewhere that you can put them in the "other" orifice and they get absorbed better and do not (obviously) irritate the cervix, so I am going to ask about that too...maybe a combo! Doesn't that sound like a fun fun time!!!

Re: Chatty- Bring on BABY New Year!!!
Yay about the PIO shots! My RE always does the suppositories too- unless there becomes a problem when you actually GET pregnant. I've never done them- but I've heard horror stories. I haven't heard about the other orifice! Very interesting!
As for the wait on a donor egg cycle, I don't know. I'll find out Wednesday I'm sure. My guess would be a couple of months at least. First, we would have to choose one, then they would have to agree, and then be able to get on cycle with me and start the stims. I would think it would be at least late February or early March, but I could be wrong. Usually, it seems like my RE is scheduling 2-3 months out so they don't have too many IVF cycles going at once. Also- I'm not sure what kind of legal releases we would have to sign either and whether this is quick and easy or not.
I think the wait on the embryos is because there aren't that many people who are willing to give them up. My friend says that most people who do donate do it at the beginning of the year (because the storage bills go out). Apparently, usually there are few people on the "waiting list", but right now she is like 4th (and she got on it 3 weeks ago). The good news about this is that most of the embryos that are donated do come from egg donor cycles so they would be really good ones. And my RE only does 5 day transfers so they would be blastocysts.
OK- it got long again... Sorry!!!
