mom2vanessa,
I'm glad your toilet problems got worked out. That would have really stunk if you had to put Vanessa back in Easy Ups. Especially since she has been doing so well. You just don't want to chance it! :thumbup for Vanessa not wanting the Easy Ups!

We trained all three of ours, 2 girls and a boy, each 2 years apart, with very little trouble for daytime shortly after each turned 2 for BM`s but not for wetting. At home, if they needed to pee, after they moved to big girls panties, they would simply go outside if it was warm, empty their bladders and change their panties or call out that they were wet and needed a change. In cooler weather they would find a convenient spot behind the sofa to do it. We just did not bother for night time until each of them gradually became consistently dry by the time they turned 5. Prior to that they wore diapers, cloth initially, and when pullups became popular , pullups. When we started we automatically put each of them in pullups until they were 4 when we went out or on longer car trips. When any of them asked to go and they were in pullups we just told them that the pullup is there as a potty. They soon caught on.
They wore pullups if we went shopping and when we arrived at the shops we asked them and checked them if they were wet. Since we did not insist on toileting before leaving they usually were and we put a clean pullup on them.
Quite often even the eldest at age 6, when the youngest was about two, would ask for a pullup when going out. Many times she got home and would stop and flood her pullup as she came in the door after a shopping trip.

Um, I am thinking that the post above is a good reason NOT to teach one's kids to use their pullup as a toilet. My friend's 3rd child was better toilet trained before her 2nd child (they are 18 months apart) due to the fact that mommy said it was ok for child #2 to pee in her pullups b/c mommy was too busy with child #3 to help #2 get to the potty.

I say get rid of the pull ups... but once you do, don't go back... you'll send mixed messages to the child. For some reason, my three year old has potty trained herself at night and still has trouble during the day. So, she decided to wear underwear one day and I told her that there wouldn't be any more pull ups and she said "ok" and she's been great with it. She's had a few accidents... so I always have an extra outfit or two on us. I would also make sure to have the child pee before bed and before you go out.

Good luck.

If it's been a year -- and he's had so little accidents...I personally would give up the pull-ups.
