Re: New to this board(i can't get my 3yr to potty train)
Girls, I know it's tough. I have 4 kids and it wasn't easy thing each time. But after all, they are all out of diapers so it WILL happen sooner or later. I'm from Japan and parents give potty training from age 1. My mother was very much shocked when I told her that my son's still wearing diaper when he was 2.
But anyway, non of my kids graduated from diaper before 3. Let's see what I did. I think I got some book to educate myself. It says it's wasting time to start when your baby can't communicate with you. I agree that training pants won't work for the sake of training. I used training pants to let them know that they are becoming big boy/girl so they are changing to big boy/girl underwear. It was just for security when we go out or in pre-school to avoid big accident. When they were home, I think I used regular underwear so they can FEEL it when it gets wet. I showed video to them (It's potty time) and it helped a lot. In fact, I recomended this video to my friend who was struggling with her 4 years old and she got over with her son. You can go to Amazon.com to get it cheaper. But kids watch video many times so it's better be in good shape.
Hopefully it helps.
