Help Needed!
Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting here and I welcome any and all advice and suggestions!
Here's our problem:
My 3.5 year-old dd is still not fully trained. I truly think she is one of those kids who is "resistant to training." Currently, she wears panties during the day and pees in the regular toilet in her bathroom using her potty seat on it. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE SHE WILL USE THE BATHROOM! She has refused to use the bathroom at friends homes, church (which has a child size toilet in the nursery bathroom, we're there every Sunday), stores, restaurants, etc. And when I say "refused," I mean screaming and all, which I really don't want to happen at somewhere like Target. The only time she has used the bathroom outside of home is one time when we took her potty seat with us to a friend's house. Right now, our schedule is that we're home a lot or out for no more than a couple of hours, during which she holds it until we get home. She won't even use another toilet in our house, except for a few times she has taken her potty seat to my bathroom and used it there.
She will request a pull-up when she has a poopy on the way. I asked our pedi for advice on all this and he mainly said not to make it a power struggle, which is what I think it is.
She has been in "training" since soon after turning two. When ds came along last year, that probably stalled her progress.
Over the last year, we have tried various rewards but nothing has worked.
So, I guess my two questions to you all are:
-How can we get her to use the potty somewhere besides her own bathroom at home?
-How can we get her to poopy on the potty?
Thanks for reading. I welcome any suggestions!
