Default Help My Almost 5 Yr Old Doesnt Mind Wetting Himself

My oldest son who will be turning 5 in Oct. Has been potty trained since last Sept with very few accidents, however lately it seems he wets himself twice a day and isn't bothered by it at all. He will wet himself and continue to play as if nothing happened. When I pick him up from daycare he always smells like pee and when I ask him if he has peed on himself he says yes and his pants are dry and the daycare is unaware that he had an accident. So he wet himself, played in his wet pants all day and they dry. It has no effect on him. With kindergarten starting I am afraid that this new trend will carry over there. I have talked to him about not wetting himself. taken away playtime, snack time, things like that but it doesn't seem to matter. I at this point don't know what else to do. Its been this way every day for a good two weeks. No new or big changes in our life. We are a very routine family. (His brother who is 3 amd will be 4 in Oct doesnt seem to have this problem, hence why I am lost) Any suggestions?

I don't know what to tell you about your son not minding being wet.
As for him wetting himself, has he been checked out by the doctor to make sure he doesn't have any medical issues? My oldest son trained both day and night at 3 years old. Then around 4 he started wetting at night again. We were told that for boys this is normal until they are 9 years old. My son finally quit when he was 7.

Hmmmm......my first suggestion would be to take him to the dr. to make sure he doesn't have any infections or unknown medical problems first. Next, I would be getting on that daycares behind about not noticing your son has wet himself or even smells like urine. I would be LIVID if I were you!!! If nothing is found to be wrong with your son, see what your pedi suggests. GOOD LUCK!!!
