Default Walter Reed Hospital

I have a referral for WRH and was wondering if anyone else had gone there for fertility issues? I am kind of nervous about going to another Hospital, especially one that far from us.

Hey Sher.
I was just about to post that same question. Just today we went got the word that our referral had been passed along to Walter Reed. We were planning on being stationed up there by feb but we aren't sure now. We have agreed though to go ahead and go through with the program for the IVF since we can fly for nothing(DH used to work for Airlines). I am curious what program you are getting in, the IVF or just infertility? Let me know how it goes. And do they send you a packet of info about the orientation and all that stuff?

Betsy,
My appointment is Feb 15 at Walter Reed and I have not received anything from them as far as a packet goes. My doctor here decided that because of my age and having had a miscarriage that I needed to be checked out by the REI people there to rule out any problems.

Hey sher,
I think that your in good hands with your doctor if it was his idea he send you there. I have heard only very good things about WRH. Good luck with your appt. in feb, keep me posted on how that goes, I'm curious as to how the IF dept works. I believe I should be getting a packet of some sorts from the IVF program. If I do I'll let you know if they have any useful info in there. Take care!

Well, I too have heard nothing but good things about their IVF program. If you go to the WRH website, you can access a page for the infertility clinic. They have all kinds of info there. I do know there is a fee for the IVF at Walter Reed. I had looked into it before we were stationed in Hawaii. The best of luck.

If you don't know this already, go to the following website. Choose clinical departments, choose Obstetrics and gynecology and then choose Reproduction Endocrinology and Infertility.

I called and cancelled my appointment for now. Since DH and I aren't actively trying at this moment I thought it would be kind of a waste to go do an RE appointment at this time. I aske dher how they would hold the referral for and she asked me when I was planning on calling back for another appointment. When I mentioned Summer she said that would be fine so I gess we'll see how things go. DH and I had said we would start TTCing again in the late spring early summer. I think he wants to get ANCO done and hopefully have his E-7 pinned on by then. We'll just have to wait and see.
