Default Tri-Care

I'm an Army wife and I'm looking for advice on how to "manage" tri-care. I've never been sick or needed anything other than a yearly so I"m really frustrated at how tri-care works. I just want to go to the RE and he do everything. It just is so frustrating to have to see the RE and then go and have the tests done at the army hospital and have the results sent to the RE..seems like such wasted time and energy......We are just starting our IF journey....my dh is deployed so I'm having tests done on me so that when he returns we can get started. These bb have been great and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Tricare isn't easy to manage. They have so many loop holes you have to jump through to get them to cover things it makes you crazy. I am seeing a RE and they do all my bloodwork and u/s, but they are an hour and a half away, maybe that's why tricare pays for it. I do get my beta's done here on base, but I would rather have them done here than drive 3 hours just for bloodwork.

Have you been to your RE yet?

I just saw my RE on Friday and he wants to do an HSG and the Clomid Challenge...A nurse there said that the last few ladies that wanted to have their's done at the RE's office tri-care turned down that there was availability to do it on post......we have MF so he wants another s/a as soon as dh gets home and then depending on those results start IUI's....we've already had two s/a done before dh left but this RE didn't think they were done using the Kruger method.....but I'm sure the army won't authorize to have more done at an off post facility. In my opinion if the RE is the one responsible for analyzing our condition and deciding on a course of action then I would just rest easier if he was the one doing all the tests. And when I met with the RE I hadn't had any experience with having anything done on post so I wasn't aware of the orders that have to be put in or approval that has to be had....in the past with my own insurance it was just simple...whoever you were seeing for a particular thing did everything and the insurance either payed or they didn't. We are in CO and the RE and post are within 30 min. of where we live.....thanks for responding.....i'm just ready for dh to get home so we can get this stuff going......

Hmmm, we must not have people that do that here on base cause it was never an issue with me. Sorry.

Yes, Tricare has covered everything so far. They don't cover IUI or IVF's, and won't cover your meds if you tell them you are going to have an IUI or IVF. I did have an IUI this cycle, but I paid for it out of my pocket and didn't tell Tricare. If they find out, I'll have to payback what they paid for my meds. I think I had a $12.00 copay on my meds.
