Icon5 Question

Hi ladies
New to this forum although not to the board. My Dh has just reenlisted back into active duty in the USMC and I am right in the middle of infertility treatment. My own insurance currently covers me but my concern is for when I move to join him in NC what I will be covered for then under his insurance. Please can anybody give me any insight into what Tricare covers for IF treatment. I am currently doing injectables and IUI - any chance it covers the IUI???? What about IVF - or is that just wishful thinking??? As I said I will be moving to NC but am currently based in Michigan - is there a difference in what is covered between the states?
THANKS in advance
Limi

Hey limi,
I usually don't post here either but I wanted to maybe try to give you some info. My husband is in the USAF and we live in florida. Tricare covers all meds and blood work UNTIL you decide you are going to do IUI then they stop covering everything. And no IVF. I am to understand that if we decide to go back to trying meds and normal baby dancing that they then pick up all the cost again. Hope this helps. As for if things are different state by state I'm not sure. The tricare reps are usually helpful with questions. Like I said hope this helps.
Betsy

I pay 5K for IVF (it's a lot more if you go off base) and IUI is was costing us 2k each time.

The armed forces do IVF and IUI but it's only about 8 bases and you have to pay for your travel and stay.

The Military Access Plan (MAP)
In an effort to express our profound gratitude to the men and women of the military and their unwavering commitment to our safety and well-being, we have developed a discount payment plan for IVF called the Military Access Plan (MAP). The sole purpose of the MAP is to allow those in the military to reap some of the benefits, via greater access and affordability, of the advanced assisted reproductive technologies that we are able to offer, thanks in part, to the freedom they help provide.

The MAP allows couples to:

pay one single discounted fee for preparation and treatment of IVF, up to and including pregnancy tests; and
undergo a second IVF cycle at a discounted fee if needed and/or desired

The discounted flat fee of $8,000 (US) covers:

single cycle conventional IVF (laboratory and clinical monitoring, egg retrieval and embryo transfer),
intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), if needed,
embryo freezing and storage for up to one year, when indicated.

Subsequent Frozen Embryo Transfer(s) may be done at a discounted flat fee of $2,600 each.

Patients may also elect to undergo a second IVF cycle at a discounted fee.

The following items, when applicable, are additional costs that are not covered by the comprehensive MAP fee.

Immunological testing.
Fertility drugs and other medications.
IVIg medication and its administration.
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).
Services provided by non-SIRM physicians or at a non-SIRM facility.
Post pregnancy ultrasound examination(s), blood test(s) and medications.
Obstetrical management.
Donor sperm.

The following criteria must be met in order to qualify for the Military Access Plan:

IVF must be medically indicated.
Foreign patients are ineligible for the MAP plan.
All treatment must be conducted at a single SIRM center.
Patients must be willing to forgo insurance billing; insurance claims, if applicable, will be submitted for services not included in the MAP.

The MAP is offered at all of our centers throughout the United States.
