Emoticon Unhappy ANOTHER allergy to add to my poor kid's list!

My son is severely allergic to wheat, eggs, milk, peanut, rye, and peas. He was diagnosed w/ food allergies at 1-yr-old, after his birthday cupcake made him have a horrible breakout. He is now five, and hasn't developed a "new" allergy since he became allergic to peas back when he was about 18 months or 2 yrs... But I think our lucky streak on that is over.

Now we are seeing him react to Sunbutter and other sunflower products. When he broke out from eating Sunbutter, I was totally bummed 'cause he loves the stuff, and has it at least once a week. Then, I realized how much of his fave stuff has sunflower oil in it. Lay's plain potatoe chips, Enjoy life soft cookies and snack bars, Soy Crisps, and the french fries I usually buy are all going to be off limits if he indeed has a Sunflower allergy(which I'm pretty sure he actually does).

For 4 yrs, I have been accustomed to the careful way I need to plan his diet. Some of the above mentioned foods have been so wonderful becaue they help him to feel "normal" by letting him eat stuff similar to "normal" kids. Also, they've been so convenient!!

How do you other parents deal with it when your already allergic child developes an allergy to an ingredient they love to eat all the time? I'm terribley worried and depressed, and scared that he's just going to continue becoming allergic to more and more foods until nothing feels safe. HELP!!!
