Icon7 Info on IVF/PGD (I WANT A GIRL!!!!)

Hey,

My husband and I would like to have a baby but we really only want a girl. I've heard of doing a 99.9% affective procedure called Preimplantation Genetic Determination (PGD) in conjunction with in vitro fertilization. Has anyone done this? Information about pricing? Doctors in NJ/NY who specialize in IVF/PGD? Had a successful pregnancy having had this? Had multiples as a result of the procedure (we want twin or triplet girls).

I appreciate any stories/help/information.

Thanks so much

Hi Marla,

My husband and I are doing IVF with PGD and MicroSort for gender selection at Genetics & IVF Institute in Fairfax, VA. We live in south NJ and are about 3 hours from the clinic. We will do most of the pre-cycle work here at home and stay in VA for the retreival and transfer.

I don't have success rates (for us) yet, this will be our first IVF attempt. We are going for a boy.. The pricing is all on their website. Genetics & IVF Institute - Donor Egg, Infertility, Pioneering Fertility Treatment We are doing their "summer special" which gets you 2 fresh attempts for 11,200. That does not include the cost for PGD, MS, anesthesia, meds and we have to cover any local tests and monitoring that needs to be done before we get there - for each attempt, and obviously our travel costs. Also freezing any additional embryos and storing them or a FET would be extra.

Also, they have certain criteria for gender selection - we had to prove we already have one daughter. I think different clinics have different protocols for this. You may have to research one that allows the selection of gender without any current children (you didn't mention if you already have boys?)

We have been extremely happy with the care we have received at givf. Everything has been done over e-mail and phone and our local labs so far. We have our own financial person, genetics person, nurse, doctor and microsort person... they all speak to each other and coordinate all the different aspects of your "case". It's awesome!

I hope this info is helpful and good luck getting your little girl - I LOVE having a daughter - it's the most wonderful thing in the world to me!
