Can douching harm anything?

not sure if it can harm..i think it can change the PH balance.

but another concern for me would be...since we are TTC...& say
we are never 100% sure of already being pg (early stages)
douching would be harmful, right? so since we bed last week?
& there's always that possiblity when you have unprotected sex...
so now i really don't want to douch (just case).

?? i know confusing?? but kwim?

douching in general is not needed in a healthy female. Our bodies are meant to cleanse themselves with out interference.

Are you douching for a smell or discharge? If so I would call your doctor to make sure that the product you are using is hypoallergenic and will not get ride of the bacteria colonies you need to remain healthy...ie NO YEASTIES

I know that if you douch as a prevention of PG it will do nothing because the swimmers are where the douch does not go.

After your pg I would stay away from them because of the possibilty of pushing an air bubble into the uterus which can cause miscarriage or placental abrubption depending on how far along you are.

I would call the doctor just to get there take on it...thats what I didn and every doc has there own ideas.

YES it is harmful. there is no need for it, if you smell down there you have an infection. the vagina is self cleaning. if you already have an infection, it can force it up father into your uterus and tubes which can cause infertility. so pleaseeeeeee do not do it!

I found out that if you do decided to douche to sway one way or the other for a certain gender, that it can take a while to concieve.

I didn't mean douching during pregnancy!

douching at all, pregnant or not, is harmful. that's what my Dr told me.

I know this is an older post, but I thought I'd add my two cents.

Douching with baking soda (2 TBS per one quart warm water) is supposed to increase your odds of having a boy. It should only be attempted if you use a gavity type douche bag and are abstaining from sex in the days prior to the attempt. You do the douche then immediately have sex. If you've had sex prior to douching, it may cause an already fertilized egg to be displaced back up the tube leading to an etopic pg.

Douching with vinegar can likewise increase the odds of having a girl because the acid in vinegar kills the weaker boy sperm. But when douching for a girl, you'll likely be having a lot of sex up to ovulation, leading to the possibility of washing an egg backwards. So I would difinately not recommend it.

Personally, I used Shettles and the gender diet and chinese lunar calendar along with baking soda douching (and prayer) to conceive my last child (who was our first boy after four girls). And I'm doing the same again. We just started ttc'ing this August.
