Default Back from my D&C/E

I have no idea what they did because I went in for a D&C but when I came out and was with my husband, they said they had to do a D&E. My husband did some research when we got home and we can't see why they would have done a D&E since it is done during the second 12wks of a pg and I was 12wks. I gues that's what happens when you go to hick doctors!

Anyway, the anistigiologist (sp?) thinks he knows what has been happening to me. He said my h/r was in the 130-140 even under sadation so he thinks I probably have a hyperthyroid and that is why I have hand and feet tremors and numbness, as well as lossing my babies late in the 1st tri. He told me to go to my PCP again on Monday and have him test for hyperthyroidism (if he didn't do it yesterday). If that is indeed what I have, it means my body has been killing my babies. I would much rather have them say it was a chromosonal problem.

The OB that I met with yesterday was refused by my insurance company for the proceedure. So, another OB did it. When she came to me, I asked her (even though the other OB told me no) if they could do some testing on my baby. She asked why and I explained my situation, had four babies without any issues, then these last two pgs have ended in late 1st tri. losses. She agreed that something wasn't right. I think the fact that she witnessed my tremors is why she wanted to help me more. So, if baby turns out alright, we know the problem is with me.

Even though today was a very difficult day, I think I'm already beginning to get some answers which makes me feel much better. Especially since my regular doctor thinks MS is a possibility and I have to meet with a neurologist in two wks. I would much rather have a thyroid problem than MS!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading!

I am glad to hear from you and that you are alright. I know today was a horrendous day for you, but on the same hand, I am glad that you are starting to get some answers. As someone who has gone through the testing for MS, I hope you don't have to explore that option very far. I hope you get answers from the thyroid option!

I hope you and Bob are able to rest up this weekend and comfort each other and enjoy your family and start to heal physically and mentally.

Colleen, I have been thinking about you all day. I am so sorry that you have had to go through all of this. I am glad though that you are starting to get some answers. Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism can be so hard on your body. They are both also very easy to treat. MS is scary, but it can also be managed rather well with good medical treatment. Neither of those diagnoses should keep you from trying again if you feel like you want to. Of course I will pray that it is the lesser of the two evils and that you will get this all worked out soon. Take care of yourself. PLease keep us informed.

Colleen,

I am so sorry for your loss but would like to talk to you more about this. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroid last January and am proof that once your body levels are right you can get pg and carry the pg to term. I also had a d&E but it was about 3 yrs ago. To be honest, until your post I had no clue that there was a difference between a d&c and a d&e. I just thought the DR's messed up when telling me. :duh

I get little tremors as well but mostly in my hands. Hashimoto's is an antimmune disorder just like MS. If you want to talk please IM me sweetie. I'm sure everything is ok but I think you are doing the right thing by getting checked out. See an endocrinologist. They specialize in thyroid issues and can do a test to see even if your levels are ok now if it is possible you will develope problems in the future.

So sorry to hear about the day you had. I can't imagine what you have had to go through, and am sending hugs. If you do have hyperthyroidism - it's fairly easy to treat. Fortunately I was diagnosed right before I wanted to ttc, and my dr said no ttc'ing until I got my thyroid taken care of. I went from hyper to hypo, and take synthroid medication (took it throughout my pregnancy), and my little boy is perfectly healthy.

Hopefully you'll be treated soon. Sending lots of hugs to you and your family!

I haven't posted in a while and was taking a break. While last week i suffered my first miscarrage and had to have a D&C. It was one of the hardest weeks I have ever had. I cried all the time. I desided to come back to the board and saw your post. I'm so sorry for you loss and I feel the pain you suffer. I pray that you will be able to go on and have another healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.

Katie, I'm so sorry for your loss as well! They are so difficult! The first two wks are the absolute worst, yet you will never forget your angel as long as you live! Have you seen our loss suppot boards? TTC-after loss is a great board and I would suggest you stop over and introduce yourself. The women are so supportive and understand all the pain we are going through!
