Default Potty Training Question

Is it best to go for the regular toilet w/a little seat on it or buy a potty? I have one little potty so far and was going to buy a second. Should I train on the regular potty instead??

I don't remember Josh having his own little potty, but I do remember having an Elmo seat cover.

AND should I put them in regular underwear during wake ours or do I wait on that for awhile? I'm a little stressed out about this.

See, Josh was almost four before he was potty trained. He had no interest what so ever. I am hoping this time the experience will be easier.

While where having really nice warm weather here at the minute the babies have been running naked for best part of the day and do ask to go to the toilet when they need a pee. If they have pants on they generally pee in them, same as if they have a nappie on.
None of my kids have really used a potty, just straight on the normal loo seat.

My girls were a little intimidated by the big seats so we started them in the little ones.

My biggest thing with having a little potty was you could see if they went or not and how much. That way you could kind of time when you were going to stick them on there again. Once they were on the big potty you didn't really know how much was coming out but by then they were trained more and it wasn't so important because they could hold it for an hour or so.

I'm going to go post a p/t thread right now with what I did to give you girls some ideas.

We wasted our money buying the little potty...they're both being used as step stools right now. We have a potty ring that sits on the toilet - they prefer that (not that they're using it!).

My son was almost 4 before he was trained, too...he had no desire whatsoever. He finally told me he would go after Santa got here (I was very pg w/ the girls at the time). I said fine! A week after Christmas, he was potty trained.

Update:

I bought an elmo ring last night. I also went ahead and bought a pack of Dora panties and Thomas underwear. This is going to be an interesting day!

So, the naked thing works??? I have a feeling my two will just pee all over the place...LOL! I'm willing to try anything though.

Pull-ups didn't work with Josh so I'm trying to avoid that route. I figure they didn't even have Pull-Ups when I was a toddler!!!!!!!!!!!

Micki---that post would be great...thanks!

Do they show any interest right now? My son trained just after he turned 3, and it went super fast! It was so easy. My twins aren't 2 yet, so I'm not really thinking about training any time soon. But I did wan to tell you that we trained on the regular toilet with a little seat. And he also used a little step stool to put his feet on. I have read that they need to be able to rest their feet on something to make it easier to go poo. Something about how their muscles are more relaxed if they can rest their feet flat on a surface.

Good luck! I hope the experience goes better this time.
