Yeah I've been back a week, but still getting back to the hustle and bustle of it all. DH and MIL did awesome, thankfully. It's nice to know that even tho "mom" can't be replaced that there's a good dad to fall back on. He took care of the house and the kids and he kept me from worrying about anything.

I did all my tests and did finally get my official diagnosis of Cushings Disease. So now I can finally move forward onto surgery. At this point, I'm postponing the surgery ironically enough, because the kids bday and easter is next month, then we're going to Disney in May and then I don't want to be laid up over the summer. The recovery from "brain" surgery is a long and tough one and I don't want to be the one holding my kids back from a good summer. So I'll do the surgery 2 weeks before they go back to school in the fall. This way they'll be in school and I can recover w/o them around the majority of time. That's the plan anyway.

My symptoms are unfortunately getting worse and of course the only way to fix them at this point is to get rid of the cushings. So I'm really torn. I want the surgery, but not at the expense of my children. So I deal with the panic attacks & anxiety, I deal with the menstrual issues, I deal with the aches & pains, I deal with the vision issues, I deal with the constant headaches, I deal with the neverending mood swings.... It's tough on me and my family. But it's something we can work around, whereas I couldn't with the surgery. Ugh..

You can see I still have issues if I'm doing the right thing... *sigh*

Aren't you glad you asked?! Other than that I'm fine and hangin' in there tho.

I'm really glad you posted and gave us the news - I've been thinking about you. Having just had major surgery myself, I totally know what you are going through in terms of weighing the impact it will have on your family. My poor husband is very burnt out right now after being on front duty with the kids for the last month. It's hard to decide to put your family through that, but then you have to think about what your family is dealing with when you aren't at your best either - short term vs. long term I guess. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I understand your situation very well.

I'm glad you are able to choose when to do it and that your family will be supportive and capable of functioning while you are recovering. Hang in there while you wait! Glad to have you back -

did you have any fun in Seattle?

Wendy

Thanks Wendy! This whole thing has been so crazy, I never know if I'm doing the right thing. I know this is for me, but since I'm in no dire distress, I feel like I still need to put my family's concerns first. I don't know...

I DID have fun in Seattle tho and we did get down to Pike's Place twice! Very cool place!! That's about as far as we got tho w/all the testing I had to do. And by the end of the week I was so run down. So I'm glad I got out when I did. We took the bus and that was quite the adventure. That part of town is a little...uhm...seedy... I guess you could say. I definitely wouldn't have gone out after dark. But it was fun and thankfully we had good weather. It was in the 50's and it didn't rain during the day while we were out and about.
So it worked out perfectly! Here's my mom and I in front of the Market...

I got a nice shot out my room window too!

And this was the room...errr cave...I stayed in that was part of the hospital. It was soooo small. Actually I think the term small doesn't even cut it!! My mom and I again...

I was standing in the doorway and the bathroom was to the left of me there. It too was ridiculously small. But that's why it was only $50 a night!

Holy crap! That place was small!!!!
I'm glad you are finally going to be able to have the surgery and after dealing with it for so long, I think I'd probably wait the extra few months to be able to heal best with the kids in school. I think it's the best option for all of you really.
I guess either option is hard in one way or another but I think you've chosen the right thing. I'm so sorry though that your symptoms are getting worse!!
Taht must be reallllly tough for you to be the best mom & wife you can but to be dealing with all the physical and emotional stuff too.
You're an awesome lady miss Kim!!!
