Default Re: Feeding Question

It is possible if they have a dairy allergy, to be allergic to soy too. It doesn't always work that way tho. Max had a severe allergy to dairy, but did just fine with soy. If you decide to switch formula - I would try a hypoallergenic one like Nutrimigen or Alimentum. Those have no dairy/soy in them, so they might tolerate them better. Just another option.

Go by your gut tho. Some docs don't take allergies seriously and will just give them meds. While meds may help - switching formulas may do the trick too. But you are the mom and you have to make the decision that is best for you and your kiddos...

I'd try the Gentlease first and then talk about changing meds if that doesn't work.

But like Kim said - you are the mommy and you REALLY have to use your mommy "gut" instinct!!

Changed the forumla and it did not work. We are sticking with the soy. We didn't change her meds just uped the dose. Apparently the zantac dose is weight specific. Jordyn gained 3 pounds in a month and with more medicine she has been a lot better. So, that is good news, but I was hoping we could try stopping the meds. I think we will have to wait a bit longer. Maybe when she starts cereal. Thanks ladies.

I just wanted to wish you luck! We've had Mady on Prilosec since she was 7 weeks old and her pedi keeps upping the dose also due to weight. She's been on cereal now for over a month and it hasn't helped with her reflux. We're going to keep her on the meds for another month and then her Pedi wants to see how she does off it for a few days. He said this is the guessing part of medicine. He said the spitting up is just a laundry issue but it she still has the heartburn aspect when we do the trial off the meds, we'll put her back on it.
Her Pedi said there's a good chance she'll outgrow the reflux by the time she's 1. I hope so.

Just wishing you luck!
