Big twin, little twin
Does anyone else have/had one twin smaller than the other?? Chloe was born 2 lb bigger and maintains that 2 lb. lead. I am just curious if my little man will ever catch up with her? We bought tons of matching g/b outfits but I guess they won't be able to wear them at the same time. Also, feeding Carter seems to be harder and Chloe has much better head control...though Carter is getting better. Is that normal? I know all babies are different....though Carter can roll over onto his side (and rolled over at the drs office on the scale) and Chloe is not even trying. So I guess I need to accept they are two different babies. I guess I am just nervous cause he is soooo tiny.

Re: Big twin, little twin
Haley was 11 ounces smaller and an inch shorter at birth and now weighs a pound more and is about 1 1/2 inches taller.
She was slower to hit every milestone until a year old and then passed by Harley and has hit almost every milestone first.
They are just different babies!! Same as if you had 2 different pregnancies but it's hard to compare because they're always side by side. I've really learned to love their differences rather than stress about them. That first year is hard though because you're always thinking that one is "behind" when they're just on their own route!

Re: Big twin, little twin
My Aidan was born at 4lbs6oz and Laila at 2lbs12oz and they continue to maintain a difference even now. Laila is hitting some of the milestones before but Aidan is now catching up. Like Micki said each is different and while we as parents can't help but compare keep in mind that even tho they are twins they are going to be different in ways. They are their own little people and will continue to amaze you, I don't think you need to worry just savor it because it goes by so quickly.

Re: Big twin, little twin
My girls are now 3 and Callie is 4" taller and 7-8 lbs heavier. She looks like she's a good year older than Emma. People are amazed that they're actually twins.
At birth, Callie was 6 lbs 4 oz (the heaviest of my 3) and Emma was 4 lbs 14 oz. So, we've always had a size difference.
Emma eats better and more than Callie...she's just smaller. Her frame is so much smaller than Callie. Callie's built like a Mack Truck. She's solid!

Re: Big twin, little twin
Yeah, even tho there was only 5 oz weight difference at birth (6lb 10oz & 6lb 15oz) Olivia, the heaviest has always been much bigger framed than Charlotte. There's now a 2lb weight difference but none in height. They are just built very differently.
Now my older girls where 2oz difference at birth and have stayed EXACTLY the same weight and height ever since, even now at 7 years old there isn't anything between them. They have 6 monthly height and weight checks becaue of their low thyroid function and they are always exactly the same, maybe half an ounce out or something. That's why i think they are deffo ID's.

Re: Big twin, little twin
My girls were 5lbs 5oz and 4lbs 11oz at birth. There has consistently been a difference in their weights and heights but they are both following their own curve. Now at almost 2, Peyton is ~24 pounds and Hannah is just 20 pounds. There's about 1 1/2" difference with P being taller. My doc is not worried since they are both following their own curve.

Re: Big twin, little twin
For mine, there was only a 2oz difference at birth, they were even the same length, but now at 10 mons old, Jailynn is about 3 1/2lbs smaller then Kailynn and Jailynn is 1/2 in taller.
Jailynn is very petite, where Kailynn is bigger framed. Kailynn was sitting and rolling over before Jailynn. There is alot of things that one does before the other, but they each have different things and the other follows closely behind regardless of what it is.

Re: Big twin, little twin
Matt was 6lbs4oz at birth and Mady was 6lbs11oz. Matt was 1/2" taller at birth. Now Matt is 2 lbs heavier than Mady and is 1/4" taller than her. But even though he weighs more and is taller Matt is only in the 30th percentile while Mady is in the 40th percentile.
Mady was much stronger when she was smaller, held her head up first, had better muscle control. But Matt has passed her up. He sits up by himself, whereas Mady still needs a little support. He also rolled over before Mady.
My Pedi says it's great that they're twins because you can compare them on one hand and on the other he said it's not great that they're twins because you can compare them.
Each baby is going to hit the milestones at different rates. It's hard not to compare.
