Default Anyone gone on cruise with an infant?

How do you wash/sterilize the nipples on board the ship?

We will be going on a family cruise in July to Canada and New England - and my neice will be 3mos old....that is the one question that my SIL hasn't figured out..

Any thoughts appreciated!

We've stayed in a hotel when needing to do the same thing. I took my own dish soap, scrub brushes and just did a thorough washing in the hottest water I could run from the sink (pretty scalding, actually!). If she can bring disposable drop-in bags/bottles, that would make it even easier. Or, find out if there's a microwave you could use somewhere and take an Avent microwave sterilizer and do a batch each day.

I'd think a good scrubbing with hot water and anti-b soap would be good. Heck, that's what we used at home!

They also sell countertop sterilizers. There aren't many plugs in a room on a cruise ship but there are a few. I have to suggest that she have a outside cabin or she wont be able to fit anything in for the baby to sleep in.
And the sinks are tiny, but is is possible to wash maybe one bottle at a time in there.

Thanks Ladies!

I think I will look into one of the plug-in sterilizers...just for her piece of mind...(she might change it by then and be ok with the hot water and soap, but you know - hormones after a newborn...you just want it right!)

and we have thoroughly checked out the rooms (my aunt booked it for us...) they have 3 other kids in addition to the baby, and I think their room adjoins to my parents...but we all have 'bigger' sized rooms to fit everything! (our room will have 2 pnp in it - or we can use the pull-out couch...so it must be pretty good sized!

we are getting very excited! there will by my parents - my 3 siblings and spouses - and the 7 grandchildren!

That sounds like so much fun! I am the queen of paranoia and germs. Similac sells disposable nipples. I used them all the time at my dad's cottage last year and just washed the heck out of the bottles.
