Trips!
Who is planning a trip this summer?
DH and I are planning 3! We have never travelled much together but it looks like we are making up for it this year!!!
First off, we are celebrating our 5 year anniversary this weekend. We are going to Ft. Madison, IA. Why? Because it looks like a neat little town and it's just far enough away from home. Plus, DH used to live there, but it was eons ago.
Secondly, one of my high school friends is getting married a couple of hours away from us in July so we are going there, staying overnight, and then coming home.
Thirdly, MIL is getting married in July, 6 days after the above wedding, so we are going to Spokane, WA/Couer D'Alene, ID for the wedding. We'll be there 3 nights - which is the longest we've ever travelled together.
Needless to say, we'll be broke, but I'm very excited. Thank goodness for our stimulus check - that's the only way we could afford to go to WA!

Re: Trips!
Tiffany - I lived in Spokane for 9 years. You are in for a real treat, especially that time of year. It is so beautiful that time of year. Is the wedding in Spokane or Couer D'Alene? I wish I could jump in your suitcase.

Re: Trips!
We don't know for sure. With gas prices the way they are, well we will probably stick close to home or day trips. Looking at going to CO and NM a lot.

Re: Trips!
DH is doing the Ironman in Kentucky, so that will be our vacation. We're going to spread the trip there over a couple days, stopping in places we find interesting. Other than that, we'l be sticking close to home. Gas prices are just too high. We will go to the lake a lot - it's only 20 minutes away, but other than that, we'll be stuck together at home. We're both teachers, so we'll be tired of each other by the end of summer.

Re: Trips!
Dh and I are going for 2 weeks to the south of portugal. My parents have an apartment there and so we won't waste much on lodging. Then my cousin arrives from South Africa with her husband and she's going to meet us there. We will be touring them for 5 days in Algarve and Alentejo. The Alentejo is my favourit place in Portugal, it's a province of flat land and little water, they made a dam the other year so the scenery chanced a lot - for the better. It's greener and a lot of people have made plantations of every sort, like olive trees, tomatoes, etc., it has such a beautifull landscape.
The only downside is that if I get my bfp this cycle I won't be able to each their cheese - for the second time! I love cheese and the cheese down there is excellent, you can smell them making it when walking down a street, it's fantastic! Well, I guess there are sacrifices a woman must make.

Re: Trips!
No real vacations this year...but we're lucky since my in-laws family has a big house at the New Jersey shore and we spend a lot of our weekends there. Then my parents have a ski house in Vermont and we'll go there for 4th of July week. It's nice to be 32 and still mooching off our parents...
