So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
What are you doing? How is it going?
I started dieting after my last m/c and lost 20 lbs pretty quick. Then I gained a couple lbs back over the last 6 weeks and finally got them back off this week. I am full force trying to get this extra weight off. I am a fluffy girl and have pretty much been the same size for at least 10 years. I am tired of the weight and I am tired of having to find clothes that fit or doesn't show my tummy or whatever.
I am...5'6
I was...204
I am now...183
I want to be...150
I am a size...12 on bottom and an XL or XXL on top. I have large ta-tas so I always have a hard time finding tops.
My favorite body parts...My legs because I can wear short shorts and ta-tas because they help give me some curves.
I don't remember ever being 150 lbs. Maybe when I was a freshman in HS or something. I would really like to go shopping and not worry about will this shrink and then show my tummy anymore. I also don't wear the cute style of clothes because they just don't fit my shape. Most of the cute shirts look good on girls with small tops. So I am doing South Beach my way. It seems to be working. I have been so bad about the gym lately so I am going tonight since DH is out of town.

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
I am trying as well. I have always been a petite curvy girl. I have hips thighs and a butt. My ideal weight for my body is about 120 since I am only 5'4". Recently I got up to 150 and that was not fun. I went up about 4 sizes in a few months and I ran out of clothes to wear. I had to go buy new bigger ones and that really sucked. Recently I lost about 4 pounds, but I haven't gotten my eating under control. I eat a lot at work, especially when I am bored. I work 10 1/2 hr shifts and they kill me. I get my exercise in 4-5 times per weak but I eat all kids of candy and bad food so the scale isn't really moving this week.

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
You sound just like me. I am 5'4 and @200 lbs. I have a lot of muscle in there (I've been told I have "man" legs) but I also have a lot of fat!
The last time I was 155 was in Phoenix and I was super active and super poor. I remember there were nights I was eating spoons of peanut butter for dinner. Ahhh, but I loved being on my own. I had done the atkins diet and then started working out and lifting weights again with a friend of mine who was a personal trainer. I need one of those again. He liked to cuss at me and I loved it. He didn't take any crap from me.
I want to be back at that size again- but even at that size I didn't feel like I looked good. *sigh*. I have joined Curves but I haven't been faithful. As soon as I'm done wearing these stupid pads I promise myself I am going to get in the gym!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what got DH in trouble -he's not overweight but certainly now has a "gut" and is attempting to work on that - mostly from his last job where it was a long shift overnight and they had a full buffet for employees for meals so he'd always come home "well my first dessert was pie, then i got hungry again................."

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
Ya, story of my life.... I think I was born a size 14. I've come to accept that I will never be an Iddy-Biddy-Booby-Barbie since it's just not my body type. I know I will never be model (I'm 5'2", who am I kidding?!) but I need to be healthier though. I've been limiting portions (counting points ala Weight Watchers) and trying to get out to walk every night. I have an elliptical machine that is collecting dust in the spare room so I need to get back on it!

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
I'm working on it. I'm close to where you girls are weight/height wise. So I could easily stand to lose 40 lbs, but I'd be happy with 20. I must lose at least 12 lbs before I get pregnant again, to be at the weight I was when I got pregnant with my son. I don't want to put on 10-15 lbs in between each child.
I lost 4 lbs the first week when I was very strict about my calories, that's all I do is count calories and exercise, anyway that week I lost 4 lbs but then since then I just haven't done as well. In fact I'm sitting here now eating peanut butter M&M's. It's hard for me to be strict with my food intake when I have a lot of stress because denying myself what I want makes me MORE stressed, and eating something sweet and yummy is definitely a comfort thing for me at times. Usually what I try to do is be very disciplined throughout the week and then I let myself slide a little more on weekends, although I try to watch it then too.
I'm trying to get back in the saddle with it today but these m&m's are calling my name. Oh well I'll count the calories as my breakfast I guess

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
I'm 5'3 on a tall day. LOL. I started 3 weeks ago at 150lbs and I weighed in today at 145. I feel awesome about that. I carry most of my weight around my middle, and thighs and butt. "Slow but Steady" is mantra and I will drop the pounds. The lightest I have been since last march when I gained 25lbs practically overnight was 139 and after all the doctors reports lately, it is very simple. I just think of it this way... change my habits or die. It's that simple. I'm not just changing what I eat but I'm changing my lifestyle.
I'm 27 and I feel like crap most of the time and I want that to end now. It's pretty empowering and I love it. I want to be between 115 and 120 by the time we head back to the midwest for either Thanksgiving or Christmas but most importantly I want to feel good about myself and be healthy again. And looking back over my charts, the first two cycles I charted I had really strong O's and then the weight happened just like that and my O's went to pieces. So I hope in losing the weight that I can feel good about myself and maybe help my cycles out in the process.

Re: So how many of us are trying to lose weight?
I've been 'trying' for the past year to lose weight. I am 5'8" and weigh about 170 lbs. so I am 10 lbs overweight according to my doctor but would prefer to lose around 25 or 30 lbs. When DH and I met we were in college and he worked in the fitness center, needless to say I started working out so that I could see him. I got in a routine of working-out an hour to and hour and a half, five to six days a week. My senior year of college I had a very demanding course load plus I was working a full time job so I had to give up something which turned out to be exercise. At my best I was a size 6 and 128 lbs! I felt good about how I looked at the time too! Now, I'm a size 14 on the bottom and a LG/XL on the top. I've always ate healthy, but for a while struggled with portion sizes. Since January I've really controlled my portions and types of food I eat however no change in my weight. I've bought a gym membership and one of my friends is going to start going with me in the mornings before work...we start next Monday!
