S/A results........not good
Well I don't really know what to say because I guess I really wasn't ready to hear it but the results weren't good. My OB called today and said a normal count should be at about 20 million or greater and DH's was 7 million  . She said we could keep trying on our own or we could at least speak to an RE. I just want to  . I really hope he will be board to take this next step and at least meet with the RE.
Have any of you been in a similar situation and gotten PG on your own?

Ella- can you have her fax a copy of the complete S/A? Going off sperm count alone isn't enough to come up with a game plan.
You could always put DH on FertilAid in the meantime. That's what I did with my DH. He had low sperm count AND low motility and it worked out for us in a couple months.
I wouldn't worry too much about the count. Especially if his volume is higher than normal. All these things need to be taken into consideration, which is why I hope you can have the rest of the info faxed.

Katrina is right, there's a lot of other factors that will affect your options for treatment.

I HAVE! My DH has a low count and we just found out while trying to #2. We were told today that he has probably been low all of his life and that there isn't really much we can do to fix it. YET....here we have little Marlee who we weren't even trying for and viola! So, yes...IT CAN HAPPEN! But, there are also things you can do from here with the help of the RE and my guess is that if DH is willing to do and S/A then he will more than likely be willing to see the RE for the next step. OH...and you can make an appointment and go on your own, but I bet DH will be right there with you. Men have big egos so they just need to dwell a little first! GOOD LUCK Ella!

Believe me, I know what you're going through. We just found out DH has less than 1 million sperm, so I know how shocked you are to get results you don't wanna hear. Alot of the ladies told me that you can easily do IUI with 5 million sperm, so hopefully that may be an option for you. KUP on your RE appointment.

Yes, that is low, but it is not impossibly low. You should make 2 appts - one for an RE, and one for a urologist (preferably one that specializes in fertility issues). Sometimes, low counts like that can be a sign that there is a varicocele, and if they can identify one and fix it, there is a chance the counts could be increased. Sometimes, men just have low counts. I'd start your DH on vitamins and go to the 2 appts, and see where you are from there. You CAN get pregnant with a low count like that, but it may not happen without some assistance.

I'm planning on being as proactive as I can about this and
hopefully even if it means we need help we'll get our BFP soon.

Hey there-
I went through the same thing at the begining of the year with DH's counts. We were trying over and over and nothing. I was floored when I got the 5 million count back, then we dropped to 3 million. I thought everything was hopeless. Turns out DH had low testosterone and 2 varicociles so we had those things fixed right up with surgery and clomid for him and we had our first IUI today with a lot better numbers.
Hang in there. It does get better.

2/14/2008-SA analysis again-yep-count still sucked!
2/21/2008-appointment with urologist found varicocile
3/3/2008-Surgery for varicocile-Doctor found TWO varicociles and had the buggers removed.
DH on Clomid for the next 3 months
4/9/2008-DH's testosterone went from 303 to 827!!
June-DH's counts are to 23 million!!
IUI 7/9/08 count 9 mill post wash
7/19/08
7/22/08- BETA 50
7/24/08 BETA 116 
8/14/08-First Ultrasound-baby measuring fine and heart beat perfect-RE Is thrilled with results!
8/28/2008-Ultrasound 2-little bean still looks perfect

My DH doesn't have sperm at all. Your case should be easier to fix than mine!!! I don't want you to feel sorry for us, I just wanted you to know that it isn't the worse case scenario. I hope the doctor will fix you soon and you will get a BFP quickly!!!

Hi,
I just wanted to ask you if you dont mind how you deal with having no sperm to have children? is there anything that can be done? that sounds truly hard to deal with ..im really sorry to hear that. is there anything that can be done to get around that?
