S/A Follow-up
Well, looks like things are moving forward. WOO HOO...we are doing IUI next month. I am getting an HSG on July 30th and taking class for my shots on July 22. The doctor seems to think that is all we need to do and give it two tries. He actually said he'd move straight forward with IVF, but DH and I don't want to spend the money quite yet.
On another note, DH told the doctor that he was only there to keep me from crying all the time and that he didn't care if we had another child or not. He feels that if we are to have another child it will just happen and that having another one isn't in his top ten list. I was floored! The doc was great and just said that most men that come in have that attitude and that in a majority of the cases, it is the woman that is wanting a child.
Either way, he has agreed to IUI and I am set for August! =) YIPPEE!!!!! OH...and he is such a liar. He wants another one. Maybe not as much as me, but he does. I think he was just embarrassed talking about his s/a.

Re: S/A Follow-up
Good for you!! Sounds like things are moving right along!!! That sounds like something my DH would say - he's always trying to play things down. I hope this brings you a BFP!!! I am so happy for you!

Re: S/A Follow-up
Oh Kristie that sounds SO hopeful.
As far as DH's comment, I agree with you, I think that remark was a response to anger, insecurity, denial, who knows. I am sure he didn't mean to hurt you by it and I'm sure he wants another baby too. He was SO anti-S/A and he went and had one done, so I think that shows his desire to have another one.
WOW NEXT MONTH!!!! I bet you are SO excited!

Re: S/A Follow-up
Katrina....I was going to pm you! What vitamin did you say to use again for DH's count and motility? They gave us something to try for 7 days, but we need more and I think it's pretty pricey. Did you say FertilAid for men or FertilityBlend? I want to buy it today. =)

Re: S/A Follow-up
Whoo-hoo! Yeah!!! I think this is going to be it Kristie!!! I'm so glad that you are able to move on to more aggressive treatment!
DH tried to play that with me when we started seeing the RE... he said he thought that if we were supposed to have children that it would just happen, but in all reality he wants a child (almost) as badly as me, and is willing to do what ever we can to make it happen. He is probably trying to be strong for you!!
Good luck!!!

Fantastic news Kristie, we'll be IUI buddies next month! Well you're about 9 days ahead of me but congrats on moving forward. Do you know what your protocol will be or you haven't gotten to that point yet?

YAY! Maybe we can be DIMayish together too! =)
This is what they gave me on paper:
Class for injection technique
U/S day 1,2, or 3
Day 3-6 Either Follistim/Bravelle/GonalF
Day 7 BW and U/S
After day 7 Antagon, additional F/B/or Gonal F and then u/s again at some point.
Ovidrel to trigger
Something like that. Does that sound about right?

Re: S/A Follow-up
Kristie!!! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!! Don't feel too bad, the fact that someone else pointed out that he did an SA speaks volumes. My DH says the same thing, he'd be perfectly content with just P, but he wants her to have a sibling. He's been telling me all along that he doesn't want to do IVF, but now that we might have to pay for everything else, IVF isn't looking too shabby. I'm sure he was just trying to look like he wasn't concerned in front of the doctor, so he wouldn't look vulnerable...or immasculine (sp). It's all ego with men and how quickly they can get bruised. Big babies. They wouldn't last one day as a woman, especially a woman TTC!
Good luck though Kristie!!!!!!!

Re: S/A Follow-up

Great news, Kristie!! And all the girls are right, guys do not want to look vulnerable in front of the doc or people they don't know that well. And I'm sure he thinks maybe it takes some pressure off. He does want another baby, no doubt about it! KUP!!

Re: S/A Follow-up
First, I'm SOOO glad you are moving forward!! 2nd . . . it could be DH just reacting to hearing mediocre news about his s/a - rather than deal with those emotions, it is just easier to pretend like he doesn't care.
You can do the injectibles . . . when you are ready to talk, I've gotten good at them and can share some tips!! I also think it makes sense to do 2 IUIs before considering IVF. We did that, even though we were told it really wasn't a viable option for us. You'll also get a good sense of how DH's swimmers are doing with the post-wash count for the IUI . . . our RE liked to see a minimum of 5 million post-wash, and forward progression of at least 2+, preferably 3+ . . . we were hitting the number, but not the forward progression, so we knew we were not likely going to get our that way. Hopefully, your numbers will look nice and strong there, and you'll get that !
