Default QOTD Sat June 28

Happy Saturday to all. Wishing everyone a great day.

So this is my last one of the week and I have been having fun with my silly questions. Let's see if I can be serious a little now.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite childhood memory was coming up to Vermont every summer with my Grandparents. I always loved it because it was my time alone without my 2 brothers, cousins, etc. We would always go down to the old market and get penny candy and a fountain soda. That was such a treat for me since I was never allowed soda at home. When my grandfather passed away 2 years ago these memories made things more bearable for me.

One of my favorite childhood memories, and one I have been thinking a lot about, was BINGO night with my grandma!! Grammy always went to BINGO, and about once a week, Mom and I went with her. She could play like 20 cards at once, and I was lucky with my one. LOL. I've been missing that ever since she passed away in 1992, but lately I've been feeling like I need to go again. I brought it up to my mom, and she said she thought it was a good idea. Won't be the same, but I know Grammy will be watching, and who knows, maybe I can play my 1 card at least!

My other memory that I hold very dear was our family vacations to Maine. We went every year for a week in August, and it was only in that one week our family got along. Well, for the most part. It was nice to have family time.

I have a lot, but I'd have to say summers spent swimming and boating on the lake with my sister, mom and dad and the other thing is playing cribbage with my dad. My dad worked a lot and it was just "our thing" my mom and sister never played.

My favorite childhood memory is going to the park with my dad, sister, little brother and whatever family friends we could get. We would cook hotdogs, play catch, go rollerblading and just relax on a sunday afternoon. My dad was a single dad raising us girls (bro was every 2nd weekend) from the time I was 8 yrs old. It was really tough for him cause we were basically thrown into his life at that time but he made it work as best as possible.

My 2nd favorite memory was going to Disneyworld for a week. It was all expense paid vacation thru the childrens wish foundation here in manitoba. My older sister was really sick so they granted her a wish and it was to see the dolphins. It was our only real family vacation cause we were quite poor growing up. I will always remember my brother at age 7 crawling around on the floor behind my sisters wheelchair making train noises while in the airport (we got stuck there for 12 hrs)

Now that my sister is gone I treasure these memories, she was my only full sibling and the only one I grew up with my entire life. When she passed away it hit me hard. So hard that I got a tattoo done in memory of her.

Hard to pick.............. loved the vacations up in minnesota (more of a resort place where the kids had their own things to do so for an 8 year old a week w/ no parents and tons of water / outdoor stuff to do)

Also on my mom's side (she's one of 7) so growing up we had x-mas at our grandparents w/ aunts/ uncles/ cousins which was always fun w/ so many people.

Also playing sports - i still play tennis and other stuff recreationally but i miss little league and stuff like that
