Icon5 OPK question?

so this is only my second cy using OPK's. I was using CB easy but the evap lines where horrible, test line always looked about the same/just a hint lighter than the control and the store was out when I needed more so I had to get the 20 pack of FR midstream tests (pink lines instead of blue). Yesterday AM I could see it was BFN. This morning I would call it positive. When I held it at arms length, the test line was darker than the control. However, I used my last IC as well and there was just a medium intensity line, not +. This kind of throws a wrench in things, I'm on CD16. I figure I'll mark it as + and then when CD 20-something rolls around I'll ask my Dr. to order a progesterone check. I guess I could go get a digi and call it the tiebreaker too. Any thoughts ladies?

I would guess that it is hard to use so many different kinds of tests and comparing them to one another. Mark the one you thought was positive as positive and watch your other signs, CM, and temps and see if it confirms your O, then call your Dr. and get your progesterone check. Good luck!

Call it a positive and watch your temps! Are you having ew? Oh you aren't temping. Keep testing with OPKs until you get a negative and then dry up. When I would get a negative after a positive it meant that I was O'ing that day. Good luck sweetie and I hope you nail it this week! Also try using the CB digital OPKs with the Fertility Monitor refill sticks! Much cheaper and works like a charm!

I always used the FR in the 7 pack (1 cy I tried the CB Easy and I couldn't tell positive from negative). It took me a cy to learn what "positive" looked like for me. I had a number of days where the test & control lines looked the same, and maybe the test line even a hair darker, but it turned out those were not really + for me. Only the times when the test line is extremely dark and the control line is light is positive for me. I also think the digitals are more accurate - it may be a good idea to have them and use it as a backup. I used to use my monitor and the OPKs, and my monitor was always right.

In my experience, IC OPK's don't normally get dark enough to be the same color as the control line. They are a bit lighter, yet somehow they are still positive. Do you have any digitals to back it up? I would keep some on hand, just to confirm. You only have to use 1 or 2 a month, so that's a plus.

to the digital backup. It takes all the guess work out! I always question if mine is positive. Especially since my IC and FR are not totally darker than the control line. I backed it up w/my digital and got my Sure enough, that was dark enough to be a positive for me, temp shift confirmed it. If I didn't use the digi, I might have missed it. I love that thing!!

And also to Katrina that you only have to use 1 or 2 a month b/c they are expensive. I use my IC's until I think I have a positive and then I bust out the big guns to make sure Good Luck!!

i even had DH look at the test and asked which line looked darker-he thought the test line and he didn't even know that's what i wanted to hear. i'll keep testing until my progesterone check on tuesday though, just to make sure. tuesday can't come fast enough. i just want to know i actually have a 2ww to look forward to. i'm sure those of you that sit through the 2ww are probably sick of them! if i didn't O, i guess i'll talk to my dr. about it at my june 3 appt.
