Hey girls....what a crazy day..I didn't feel well yesterday, my right side hurt, and I felt crappity all day. DH told me to go to the bathroom - as he thought I was just constipated LOL....well, around noon today, I felt really bad and by 2:00 I called DH to take me to the emergency room.

I knew it...I've had one in 2002 and I thought I had another one....a kidney stone. After several rounds of morphine and 2.5 bags of saline, I finally felt well enough to go home. Unfortunately, they said I I have "several more" hanging out, so I see lots and lots of water in my future.

I'm just so worried, I know that you can get them again once you have them, the thing I worried about is getting one while pg, cause you can't take pain meds! So, I'm off to drink water and pass this thing..

I have an appt at the urologist tomorrow to find out how I can change my diet. I'm excited to see what I can do to keep from making more of them...

Off to take a percocet and a nap. Hope you girls are all doing well, I'll try to catch up tomorrow!

Gosh, Leah! That is horrible!! I'm so sorry you had all that going on. I've never had one but I've heard they heart like the dickens!! I hope you get to feeling better. Enjoy your meds and nap. I hope you have a swooft recovery and can come back soon. Feel better girl!!

When I started reading your post and you said trip to the ER, I IMMEDIATELY knew what you were going to say... I'm SOO sorry.....BUT

Yes, you can take pain meds when you're PG & trying to pass kidney stones. I know because I had the stupid things when I was PG with my DD. I had them like 5 years before so I remembered what the pain was like. <Hurt like a SOB> (And yes, that's true...if you have them once, chances are you will have them again in your life) So DH took me to the ER and (I think I was about 4 months along) after checking with my OB, decided that it was safe to give me pain meds. I and my DD were fine. I had to take the trip to the Urologist (you will be the only female in the room with a bunch of old men! haha) too and they said everything looked great, but to double down on the liquids & don't hold your pee for any extended period of time on purpose. He also said citrus drinks have a tendency to limit stones so double down on the OJ & Lemonade. You'll be fine....even if you get the stones again.

I had one of the worst pregnancys around so everyone feel free to ask away about:

Pre-Eclampsia
Eclampsia
Potocin/Induction
Delivery at 35weeks
Vaginal Hematomas

Yikes, I have heard about those. Super painful! I have similar troubles with my gallbladder that I am just going to have to deal with. It gets a lot worse when I'm on any type of birth control so the same thing will probably happen when I'm pregnant.

I hope you pass this thing quick. BTW I have heard that cranberry juice is really good for breaking down those stones.

I heard the same thing about cranberrry juice. Too bad most people don't find it all that tasty You'd probably be willing to drink gasoline though if you thought it would help.

Good thing you are going to your urologist though, maybe you can find something that is triggering them and get it under control.

Thanks Trinity, that makes me feel better that I can deal with them if I need to.. I also bought this thing called "True Lemon" and True Lime" to add to my water. It is just crystalized fresh juice in individual packets (but they contain no sugar) I used to use them when I was dieting to make water taste better, so I got a whole bunch, cause the citric acid is supposed to break them down (which is probably also the same thing with the cranberry juice - which I love, so I'll get some of that too!)

Thanks girls. My urologist appt is on Thursday, we'll see what he has to say!

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I was having a pain in my back on the side and it kept nagging at me and I thought I had another one coming on. THANK GOD it went away, I didn't need another trip in the same week to the ER!!
