So, my husband can be such an UN-handyman. So, we've had like no water pressure for months and now our cold water has been brown - not just a little, but a lot. DH figured out it was the water softener causing the problems. But he didn't have a clue how to fix it. So, I FINALLY got him to call the guy who put in our well and such. The guy was here last night and couldn't figure it out. He said "are you sure it's plugged in?" Sure enough, it was UNPLUGGED!!!!!!!!!!! Come to find out DH had unplugged it in AUGUST and never plugged it back in. You'd think problem solved right? Nope. It's been unplugged for so long, that it will either take over $500 to repair or $1700 to replace. The repairs may not work, so I don't know what we'll do. However, between a new bike for him (which I am becoming more and more bitter about - $2100) and the water softener, our whole tax rebate and stimulus will be gone. I am not a happy camper. I was hoping to have some cushion in the bank... This is what I feel like doing to DH
Dh's dad passed away when he was 11 so he never learned anything handy around the house. He is a very sensitive guy and knows how to treat women after his mom raised him, but he can't tell a screwdriver from a wrench. He calls every tool a screwdriver. LOL. I don't let him touch anything EVER!! I had to learn the hard way, but now I know I need to pay for repairs.
I hope it doesn't end up up costing you too much $$$$

I'm sorry. I know your pain though. We have been looking at a hanging from wires smoke detector since June of 06 because DH is either 1-too lazy to fix it or 2-Doesn't want to admit he doesn't know how. Right next to the smoke detector is the whole in the ceiling where he fell in the attic taking our Christmas tree down on Dec. 1. I wonder how long I'll be looking at that one?
I hope your water problem gets fixed. Sounds like your check was a good one. We received ours yesterday and it is already spent too...on our summer pool fees! UGH!
Who spends $2100 on a bike?????? My first car didn't even cost $2100!!
Ya, Matt would be taking that bad boy back!!!!
Trinity, it sounds crazy, but once you get caught up in racing and triathlons, you keep upgrading and upgrading all of you gear. Especially men, they'll do anything to take a minute off of their time. HA!
Luckily, mine only cost $850! =) (I wasn't looking to win!)
$850?!?!? OMG!!! You all are hardcore. I didn't even know bikes could cost that much. That is crazy! But hey, I'm all about hobbies. I'm sure if you added up all of my scrapbooking paraphenalia, I could open my own Michaels.

DH isn't going to be close to winning !!!! I haven't figured out why his old bike isn't good enough!!!
Funny Jess. I only had one bike ever and it was fine for me. He'll do great at Lake Placid I'm sure. Men really do think they need the best of the best when it really comes down to their own ability. (that's what makes us women so much stronger overall!!! We just don't let men in on our secret!)
My DH rides a different and even more expensive type of "bike" and he has THREE in the garage... 2 of which don't even run. Luckily for us, *I* am the Bob Villa in our household. My DH knows better... ;-)
That is pretty bad! I have two, but one is a road bike and the other a mountain bike and honesty, I don't find time to ride either. =) Maybe I should sell them to someone. Sounds like your DH needs another one Arfy77! =)
He's already done Lake Placid, he's doing Louisville this year. However, he is barely training. He needs to pick it up big time. Plus, we need to have so many credits to teach, and he needs to get 18 college credits by June 30th to keep his job!!! I am so stressed, and he doesn't seem to care!! We won't be able to afford our house, etc. if he loses his job.
That's right. I remember you telling me it was Louisville! Well, since that one isn't until Aug. maybe he could focus on his school credits for now and then over the summer dig in for the ironman. If he is only looking to complete it and not beat his last time, then that should be enough time to get in shape. His job should definitely be his first priority. Then he wouldn't be able to buy all the things he needs for his races or even pay the fees to enter them.
