Maria (trying4#1)
Speaking of misbehaving cats................
DH lets the one out at around 6:30. Well guess he was having quite the time exploring because by 11pm no cat to be found. DH stayed up till 2 waiting but still nothing.
So i go outside 6:30am and the dumb thing comes running across the deck (who knows where he was!!) and inside - and of course DH is not happy.
So tonight DH put him on "kitty probation" and doesn't get to go outside

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
LOL. Cats will be cats. When we got our kitten, we wanted to keep her an inside cat. Well things have been warming up outside so I let her go outside with us in the backyard while we lay out by the pool. Well now that I have given her a taste of the outside, she tries to dart outside any chance she gets and I end up chasing her around the backyard. I should have never let her out in the first place.

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
Hahaha, see that's what we get for talking about it!! Thank goodness he came back! I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing he was still out there. Good luck w/kitty probation tonight - I hope he doesn't drive you crazy to go out!
Amy, my cats aren't allowed out either - although one escaped last year and I thought she was gone for good Thank God she showed up 3 days later after our neighborhood was plastered w/"Lost Cat" signs! We have 2 and believe it or not - the one that got lost has never tried to get out since. The other one, however, tries to dart out into the garage whenever she can. She just thinks it's a game though to see if she can get past me. I left her out there for an hour during the winter trying to teach her a lesson - she was jumping against the door trying to get back in the house! Yeah, that didn't work, she still tries to get back in there! Cats ......

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
I just want to know what he found so entertaining............
I checked to make sure he hadn't gotten into a fight or something but he looked fine. Our other two go out but one never ventures past the driveway or deck. The other stays around us since she's only allowed out "supervised"
Oh yeah he's going to whine at the back door all evening..........fun!

DH has opened the door to let him go out in the rain once and the cat got ticked - stands there whining as if to say "make it stop!" And then a couple hour laters, same thing

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
hahah, enjoy that tonight! I bet DH caves and let's him out - I would - I wouldn't be able to stand the whining I'm sure he was hunting (or torturing) some mouse or something. Mine torture them, we had a mouse in our house a couple winters ago and we came home to both of them circled around the poor thing batting at it. Idk how the little thing didn't have a heart attack right there!!

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
Ugh........... yes they love to torture mice. I guess their kitty food tastes better since once the mouse stops moving they go find something else to bother.
Between moves we stayed with his brother and guess they had a couple mice in the basement. Kitty was nice enough not only to kill one but to bring it and leave it on my dresser.
They also killed a baby snake and drug it over to their toy pile so that was a fun discovery.

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
My cats come and go as they please, but we have 5 acres and are at the end of a dead end dirt road, so it's not like they'll get hit. they actually think they're dogs. They will scratch at the door like the dogs. Ander even goes in the kennel with the dogs in the morning - she likes the dog treats. I have to throw a piece of one out of the kennel to keep her out - I'm afraid she'll get squished!

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
OMG Jess that's so funny! I wish I could let my cats out, but we're in a development and I would worry about them getting hit. But I'd worry more that they wouldn't be able to find their way home - especially since my one cat was lost for 3 days - and when I finally found her she came out from under the shed! Geesh.

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
Well, Alex was a barn cat until we got her, so there was no way we could keep her in - Ander was found in a ball field at about 4 wks old - Polamalu was found along the road at about 5 weeks old. They have been very good about coming back. They've spent the night outside already, but they're usually on the porch in the morning when we get up. They curl up with the dogs all the time. They are so cute together. If you look at Alex's picture, that's Jazzie she's curled up next too. I never liked cats until I got Alex and Ander. I still don't like Polamalu too much - she's the whiniest animal ever!!!! She is constantly meowing at us! Usually it's because the food dish is almost empty - she can't stand to see the bottom of the dish. We spoiled her big time because she was so sickly when we found her. Now we're paying for it.

Kitty wins................ - we did not let him outside which he mildly protested but payback is a b%&$ - about 3 am he decides he'll start meowing and fighting with one of the other cats in our room which of course wakes us up grrrrrrrr.............
Then he does the same thing at 5 am (which DH i guess decided that was enough so kitty got put in the garage for an hour)

Re: Maria (trying4#1)
Glad your kitty came back!!!
Ours is strictly an indoor cat but she once accidentally got out. It was the 4th of July and we looked FOREVER!!!! I was crying and freaking out! We finally decided to get in the car and search, but before starting the car I got on the ground to look, I caught her little eyes in the light of my flashlight. She was under the lawnmower and terrified!!
