JACKSON, Mich. - An Iraq war veteran accused of raping his 3-month-old daughter in Michigan pleaded guilty to attempted child abuse.

Former Army paratrooper Kirk Coleman entered his plea Friday after prosecutors agreed to drop charges of criminal sexual conduct and child abuse.

Authorities said Coleman attacked the baby in September in a home west of Detroit. She suffered brain damage and broken bones.

The 27-year-old faces up to five years in prison.

Besides being just plain evil...my problem with that story is the line "pleated guilty to ATTEMPTED Child Abuse". ATTEMPTED MY ***. (sorry). Why would the prosecuters let him plea bargain and drop the Child Abuse charge. That's DISGUSTING. Oh, well I take comfort in knowing what will be done to him in prison and what he will get in the end. Hope he likes warm weather.

Crime and punishment is a joke these days. And you wonder why people do it - they do it b/c there are virtually NO consquences!! And we all know how children learn - they're afraid of what will happen if they do something wrong. These criminals weigh what crime they're going to commit by if it's worth the minimal amount of time they'll have to do - and usually it's worth it to these nutjobs!!! I get so angry!!!!!!!!

I can't even believe anyone could even think about doing this to a THREE MONTH OLD!! I'm w/Trinity - the inmates will have a field day with him. I hear they don't take kindly to child molestors. So thank god he'll get his "real" punishment soon!!

That is so disgusting. I can't believe people can do things like that.

Dh and I were watching the news last night and a woman left her baby in the car while she did her shopping at the grocery shopping yesterday. It was over 100 degrees and some people saw the baby crying in the car. They called 911 because the door was locked and the paramedics had to bust the women and take the baby into the store and perform CPR on her. She is now in stable condition and the mom was in the checkout line when they rushed the baby into the store. She said she forgot. What the H***. Apparently this was not her first brush with child abuse charges.

It is sad that we are all trying to have a baby and this girl who has 3 kids and is very young and fertile keeps getting knocked up and we can't seem to get pregnant. I

That is just awful. I don't understand how anyone can do that to any child, let alone a 3 month old! Ridiculous!

So much evil in this world.

Amy, I was just talking about that today with hubby. We always joke when we're getting out of the car "Ok little guy, we're gonna run in the store, you'll be ok out here right" . . well it's not really a "joke" more like we are just baffled at how someone could leave their child in the car and it's just our way of commenting on that. I don't think there's any excuse for it. My son is *always* on my mind. I dread the summer because the stories of all these poor little babies kill me, I am so sad for them.
