July IUI
I posted this over on the IUI board too-but just incase-
Hi Ladies-
Well AF is here-YAY-never was so happy to see her-and I pick up my Clomid today. I am concerned about taking Clomid. I am taking 100 mg!! I ovulate like clock work and I am worried that with the Clomid I am going to have several follies and have twins-triplets-quints-you get the idea. My grandmother was a natural twin so that makes me double at risk.
Has anyone over here been on Clomid even though they ovulate fine?
I am also worried about having too many and them cancelling the cycle.
Thanks-

Re: July IUI
I ovulate fine on my own, i even had a natural set of twins. They put me on 50mg of clomid to up my chances this time cuz DH count was low. I had 3 follicies and did my IUI on 7/23/08. I was nervous to, but i think everything will be ok. I think if you do end up with to many they will cancell it. Wish you the best of luck!!!!!!!!

Re: July IUI
I've always ovulated normally, but my RE put my on Clomid to increase our chances of conceiving since we had a MFI.... I guess the thought is if you can increase the sperm count then if you increase the number of eggs then maybe the sperm that is there will be able to find one of them.
Also, if I remember correctly, Clomid only increases the chance of multiples 5-10%, and even the majority of those cases is only twins.

Re: July IUI
I wouldn't worry - i've heard the same as deana (only about 10% and mostly just twins, not 3 or more)
Do you have an u/s set up to check what's going on?

Re: July IUI
I was also wondering if Dr. gave patients Clomid when they ovulate fine on their own. I wish you luck on your next cycle and I wouldn't worry too much about multiples.

Re: July IUI
Sometimes they do . . . in most cases, Clomid does not drastically increase the ovulation . . . it gives a little "boost," which is especially important when dealing with MFI. As my RE said, with such low numbers, the best option is to increase the number of targets.

Re: July IUI
I also O just fine on my own, my RE gives me 50mg of Clomid plus one 75iu dose of gonal-f. Like Tkeys says I think they do it to increase the odds. Good luck!

Re: July IUI
I ovulate on my own, but use Femara. The doc just wants to make sure there are extra follies/eggs to up the chances of catching one. So far no luck, but we haven't had an IUI yet. GOOD LUCK to you! All these IUIs this month, we may have a ton of bpfs really soon! =)
