i went to a work party sat night and one of our admin assistants said "i don't mean to offend you but you look like you might be expecting". i was holding a beer at the time. so basically, she called me chunky AND a bad mom. ugh. i've even LOST weight recently-i'm 5'3'' and 125lbs-my DH was super sweet and definitely said i don't look preggers. i'd be happy to look preggers...if i were. anyway, i'm hoping it's good luck for this cy?? she unfortunately then said "oh, now i've jinxed you". whatever, i tried to laugh it off. i rubbed my stomach and told her i must have had to many Heineken's i guess. but AF showed today so it's a new cy and i'll start gonal-f in a couple days!! i'm very excited. i really feel like now my ovaries will DO something!

That is ridiculous. I would have asked her if she really thought it was appropriate to say that. People can be so stupid sometimes. What did she think the outcome would be if you said, "no i'm not" just like you did? People don't think.

I'd NEVER approach anyone and say something like that. It was probably innocent on her part unless she really is just a rude person, but with some people you just don't know so DON'T ask.

if you need to start a sentance with "I don't mean to offend you"...chances are - you are offending that person. saying that before hand doesn't give someone a pass to say something that's none of their business.

Geesh. Seriously people don't think before opening their mouths. Obviously you weren't pregnant or you wouldn't have been drinking a beer. I don't know if I would have been more offended that she thought I was fat or that she thought I was the type of person who would drink while pregnant. I probably would have said something to that effect.

I am just a tiny bit taller than you but dang I wish I weighed what you do! I bet you are beautiful and a perfect weight for you.

I agree RUDE! Pregnant people don't drink beer, & unless she thought you were just trashy too. I know how you feel on my vacation my family kept asking me "Are you depressed or something? You gained a lot of weight." I wanted so badly just to tell them everything I've been through & tell them to SHUT UP! Fertile people just don't get it! Sorry about your rude co-worker. Rude for all the reasons everyone said. I will never ever say anything to anyone I THINK is pg, only if I know...and this is why.

My friend had her baby and 4 days after she had it, her sister was carrying her baby while she checked out at the grocery store and her sister and baby were standing in line with me and the lady in front of my friend asked her when she was due and she had to say "I already had my baby 4 days ago" EMBARRASSING? Yes, for both parties.....

and 2nd my sister is a nurse and used to work at a pediatric clinic and a woman came in with her 3 (THREE I SAID) month old baby and the Dr. actually asked the woman "How far along are you, six months?" UMMM HELLO, she was there to have an appt with the DOCTOR (supposed to be smart-apparently NOT in math) for her THREE month old...how could she be six months along?? So, lesson learned...never ever ask anyone if they are pg or how pg they are LOL!!
