Default (dumb) question

Well maybe not dumb / either way
Reading amy's post on still possibly having a 2008 baby (if carried a couple weeks short) got me thinking and i could google this but thought I'd see if anyone had any thoughts also

DH is one of three (he is the third) and was very premature (like due mid-late september and he was born july 4th )

Is that usually something circumstantial or genetic or just to hard to tell? She fell a few days before going into labor so may be related to that.

I don't think it's genetic, but I think it may have something to do with the number of kids you've had (you're also quicker to show, and have a bigger baby the more kids you have) and at what age you have them. My bro, my parents third child, was due in mid January and he was born in mid October (at 28weeks). My mom was also 36 at the time. My DD was born at 35weeks and she was my first and I was 27 when I had her. I was induced because of eclampsia but neither I nor my hubby were early (other than 2 weeks).

I do know that you and your hubby's birth weight will affect what size baby you have. Case in point, my hubby was 10.6lbs at birth, and his younger sister was 10.9lbs. She had a son and he was 10.15lbs!! He was the size of a 3 month old when he was born! LOL I'm PRAYING DO NOT make me give birth to a toddler!!! LOL

I think it is more about circumstances. Clomid and other ovulation induction meds seem to correlate some with early labor (but usually only a couple of weeks).

I was actually a couple of weeks early myself. My mom was due in November, we lived on a huge farm. Well she and my Dad went for a drive on the farm, the truck died and she didn't want to be left while he walked to get another one so she walked, about 2 miles. She went into labor and I was born Oct. 21st.

I'm the 3rd of 4 and all of the others were born on or after their due dates.

Don't know if that helps but it's my story

I was "early" (almost 2 weeks early but really, since you're considered full-term at 37 wks anyway, I dunno that it's really *early*) and my son was one week late, and that with a several-day induction. I don't know when he would have decided to come out if we'd left it up to him!

Thanks for all the input........... it's probably not going to be an issue (well i hope) but it got brought up too with the RE history paperwork and all so i was curious.........

They gave him 50/50 to make it through neo-natal but after that initial stuff nothing else happened
