Icon5 Dueling OPKs...are they both correct????

Me again! OK so I know I can't count on my erratic temperatures since that little thing called Strep screwed up my chart last week, so now I'm trying to figure out what my OPKs are trying to tell me. Yes, plural. I know, one should be enough, but I wanted a second opionion....

So I bought the regular (Wal-Mart Special) OPK called Answer which is just pee on a stick and look for two lines. I will call that OPK #1. Now OPK #2 is a Clear Blue Easy Digital (Target Special...haha) which is look for the smiley face or no smiley face. I've been alternating between the two for a few days now. Well this AM, #1 finally showed a second line. It was light, but it was there. The directions did say that the test line did have to be at least as dark as the control line to consider it positive. However, I would like to think it detected something as it hadn't shown a second line at all prior to this morning. Anyway, so in getting my second opinion, I busted out #2 <oh that sounds bad!), let me rephrase that....I got out my second
OPK and tested with the same "sample" <it was in a cup>. As usual, with my luck, the darn thing started blinking an error message and the digital display would never show that is was working. If any of you are familiar with this brand, you then know if you take the stick out of the holder and look at it you will either see 1 line (negative surge detected) or 2 lines (pos). Well, there was two blue lines where there hadn't been at all. Sooooooooo.....

Would you consider that a positive OPK???? Besides my temping, my CM isn't EW yet, but I do have some mild cramping and very WCM. I'm going to test in another 4 hours and see what it says. Thanks for reading this far!! We've also been BD every other day so I think we may catch that egg regardless!

Thanks gals!

My guess would be that you haven't quite gotten your +OPK just yet but probably will be soon. Keep up the BD-ing! Good luck!!

I'm with Mary Beth. Even on the digitals, you can see 2 lines, and the test line still has to be darker than the control line.

The first OPK sounds like you are getting there - but seeing a 2nd line is not a positive.

I agree...the directions on the digis say to never read your results by the lines on the tests. There will always be two lines on the strip, so only go by the smiley face. Also, with the Answer ones, if the test line wasn't as dark or darker than the control line, then it's not a true positive either. Sounds like you're getting close though. Usually, you get light test lines that lead up to a positive. Good luck sweetie!!!

Yeah, you probably aren't there yet, but are getting close. Keep testing and if you can, post the pics of the OPKs! I think bd'ing every other day is a great way to make sure you catch the eggie. Just make sure the day you get the positive that you bd! Good luck sweetie!

I actually use the same 2 OPK's that you are talking about. I usually get a positive 2-3 days before I O with the digital one. I will get a smiley face on the clear blue digital before I get a true positive on the answer ones. Yesterday and today I had positives that were really darker than the control line. Today I got the best looking positive on the answer OPK. The control line was extremely light and the test line was super dark. I hope that helps.

So in conclusion, I usually O 2-3 days past my first smiley face on the clear blue digital. If you go by the answer OPK, make sure the control line is truly lighter than the test line.

Good luck catching that egg.

I use the answer brand. The test line must be as dark or darker. When I start testing around cd 13 I always have a second line. It usually gets a little darker every day, & I usually O on cd 18. I'd keep testing you're probably still a few days away. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone! You guys were right! I tested again last night and I got negatives on both. The digital one started working again thankfully! I even tested this AM and nothing. Since I took Clomid to bring on O I thought I would have by now. That's just me being impatient....something I'm learning you MUST be when TTC! Dang it! LOL

Thanks again gals!!

I'd say it should be either tomorrow or the next day. Just a word of advice- if you ever resort to using internet cheapie dipsticks, the possibility for it to be positive even when both lines aren't as dark as each other is higher. Last month the test line was lighter than the control line and it was still positive for some reason. I think it's just because of the amount of ink they put in those cheapies. But the storebought ones are usually pretty accurate. You do the same thing I do- back it up with a digital if there's a question
