Dr. Appt Update....
This is a discussion on Dr. Appt Update.... within the TTC - Cycle Buddies forums, part of the Trying to Conceive - People Like You category; Well, 1st I LOVE my new DOC, unfortunately, she's not keeping me...., I got in quick and right away ...
Well, 1st I LOVE my new DOC, unfortunately, she's not keeping me...., I got in quick and right away she said, how long have you been charting, 18 mos? and I said yes, and she said, do all of them look like this? (I brought Jan to now) and I said yes, and she said. They look great, you are obviously right on track and ovulating.
She said that DH SA is our problem He has low volume and only 18% are normally shaped and 50% are swimming well, so that is less than 20Mil doing what they are supposed to and shaped the way they are supposed to. SO MFI is our deal-io. But she, unlike my last DR, thought the HSG was important and so do I, so I am scheduled YIPPPEEE on June 5th!!! I am SO glad to be moving forward.
She did an exam and said that she did actually see my cervical opening and it opened more upon dilation, which is good, She said that it was tilted but not much and shouldn't be a problem. I was kind of worried about that. She said with the cramps and stuff I've been having, endometriosis may be a possibility, but that the MFI was our main concern and she would know more after the HSG.
She explained all the procedures to me, (although I knew all of it from you all - TKEYS!) and she gave me some antibiotics for the day before, day of and day after the HSG, on the slight chance of infection. She also told me (which I knew) that chances go up for conception the first 3 months after the HSG.
So, she is actually sending me away, but that is good. She is going to do the HSG and if that looks good, refer me to the Dr. next door (the other referral name I had) and he does IUI. She did not recommend Clomid for me, because I am ovulating and that it can thicken your CM and that would make our problem with DH worse.
But she asked me a ton of times if I had more questions and if I have any more questions she will make time after the HSG after the results to go over them with me.
I feel good and I don't know why I put this off for so long. Now at least we have a plan. I told DH I loved him like 20 times today and I am just grateful that hopefully IUI will work. Otherwise the closest person to do IVF is 2 hrs away in Minneapolis!
So Tkeys or Mandy...please sticky my appt....7:30 am at the hospital on June 5th... (my parent's anniversary - is that a good sign? Not sure LOL)
Thanks if you made it down this far LOL!

That's great that you are finally seeking advice/help. I'm sorry DH is not where he should be, but there are ways around it. Good Luck on your appt and HOORAY for having a plan! =)
I think it sounds great!! And your numbers sound like they will be good for IUI - you have normal motility (50% is the low end of normal) and 18% morphology is low but not horrific (I think they are using the WHO scale, and 30% is normal). Do I remember correctly that your DH smokes? He could probably return his sperm count to normal in a few months if he quits - it lowers count and volume and affects morphology. Also, if he is willing to take vitamins, a regular men's multivitamin, Vitamin C, and pycnogenol should help with morphology a lot. You can add other things if he is willing to go all out, but not all men are willing to swallow a bunch of different vitamins. The Fertility Blend is good, too, but a lot of those require taking a bazillion times a day and are expensive.
Anyway - it sounds like a great plan - I'm sure you will get that in no time!! Anyway, yay for the HSG, and I know what a relief it is to have answers and a plan of action! You can always switch back to this OB once you are pregnant. Good luck!! Is she recommending a lap to check for endo at all, or just put that off for now?
Great news Leah!! I'm so glad you took the step and went in to she her. You must feel so much more at peace now that you have answers and a plan. I'm praying for your BFP in these next 3 months!

Tkeys, yes, DH smokes, MUCH to my dismay! especially now. But, he is taking his vitamins (FertilAid for men) much more regularly, as it was sporadic before, so he is making "baby" steps literally. I think t his may just be the eye opener he needs tho. And he eats horribly, not many veggies, skips breakfast, doesn't drink much water, but today. he was all about the water....so maybe (after 11+ years!) this will finally turn him around to care a bit more about his health. I took him to lunch to let him know what the dr said and he said. Honey, I really want to have OUR children, I don't want to adopt, cause the part I like most about having children is they will be a part of me and a part of you. I never knew he thought that way before today. So, I'm hoping, not far from now, I'll have a lil part of him and a lil part of me, growing inside!

HSG Challenger and Instead Cup Challenger
That is great news - and a good sign of commitment to this process. My brother was a smoker - until they were ttc, and it finally opened his eyes and he committed to quitting for his children/future. He has been smoke free for about 3 years now, and they have 2 children.
Leah - Sounds like you found a great group of Dr.s who listen to you and want to help you get pregnant soon. I'm glad dh is turning around and making strides to help you get that soon. Keep us updated and wish you the best of luck in the next couple of months!
Yay for a plan
