I am as well happy that the test came back normal.
I am hoping though that someone will be able to give you answers though. I know the frustrations it must give you to not know and pinpoint the causes.

Molli - I am sorry for this long road that you and Ty have been on. Hopefully you aren't too far away from some concrete answers that will help you conceive a child. As always, you both are in my thoughts and prayers.

First - the results are good news! I would definitely set up an appointment with an RE, and bring all your test results. Many times, a urologist may not realize what the REs can do (and vice versa). If you don't have a good fertility clinic, you can find out information on SART - SART - Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. It should have all the affiliated clinics listed in your area, and that is where I would start. If they have something connected to one of the university hospitals, they are likely to have the most advanced lab systems, so I would think that is your best bet! I've heard/read a lot of stories about IVF success. With limited spermatogenesis, it is sometimes difficult to find good sperm for IVF w/ ICSI, but it is supposedly possible in >80% of partial testicular failure cases. Since you aren't dealing with complete testicular failure, I just think there is still hope, and I would definitely talk to some specialists in the field. If you want to travel, there are some of the "best" clinics in the country you could check out (e.g., the Cornell Clinic is one).

Good luck Molli! Get an opinion from a RE or two before counting anything out.

Thanks so much gals. TKeys-I checked out that website and the Center that we are referred to by my GYN is on that list, so yeah! They are calling me back tomorrow for an appt. I just hope it is sooner rather than later!

I am not totally crossing anything else out yet. I just know that Ty must feel horrible and often says things that make me feel so sorry for him. I know that he wants to have his own child, but it may not be an option. I know he doesn't want me to miss out on "pregnancy" stuff. I just don't know!

Glad the center is on the list! I've used SART as a good resource to find out about success rates, etc. You just have to click on the center, then select data, and it tells you about the # they do each year and their success rates.

As for what to do next if IVF w/ ICSI isn't an option . . . well, you and Ty will figure that out along the way. Discuss ALL your options, and over time, something will seem to be the right fit for the two of you. DH & I talked about using donor sperm when we weren't sure if his swimmers would be too bad to use for IVF. We talked about whether we would turn to family for donor sperm, or if we would do anonymous, or if we would prefer to adopt. We also discussed what we would do if there was an egg quality issue for me. We hadn't made any final decisions, but we discussed all of our options, and that process made our path clearer. I think that you decide each step of the way one step at a time, and you can openly discuss all the different options. DH & I also discussed adoption - I collected a few applications for adoption agencies, and we attended a couple of meetings, and if the IVF had failed for us, I would have put us on the adoption wait-list while we talked about/explored future IVFs and other options.

You and Ty will figure it all out - together, and one step at a time! Just keep talking.
