Default HI. New to the TTC

Hi.. I have been lurking for a very long time on the due in Feb 2007 and Born in Feb 2007 boards.
My Name is Heather. I am 21. I have been married for almost 2 years. I had my beautiful daughter on Feb 1, 2007. My husband and i have just recently decided to TTC #2. i have an IUD and have to get in to have it removed.just wanted a little advice on how long i should wait after it is removed. and what others have experienced as far as if it will be difficult to get pregnant. My first was not planned so this is kinda new to me. i have thought i should just go off BC and not worry about getting pregnant and when it happens it happens. Thank for the future help. Heather

Welcome Heather!

I don't have any experience with IUDs, so I'm afraid I'm not much help there.

I know with the pill, you should be off 3 cycles before you start TTC so your hormones can get back to normal and you can calculate a due date properly.

Good luck!

Hi heather and welcome to the board!!!

I have a Mirena IUD (IUD with low dose hormone) and mine is coming out in 9 days. You are immediately fertile on removal of an IUD as it is a barrier method of contraception. As soon as the IUD is gone pregnancy can happen at the next ovulation, you don't have to wait for your cycles to settle as with hormonal birth control.

If you have a low dose hormone IUD like mine, then you commonly ovulate within days of its removal due to the change in hormone status. Some women don't ovulate for several weeks though.

The official line is that your fertility should return immediately
