Thank you so much Kara. He was such a special boy. My husband never remembers his dreams. But Friday morning he woke up crying and said that he had two very vivid dreams the night before. In both Gero was with his Mom (who passed away 6 years ago). Somehow those dreams comforted us both and since then we have come so far in healing.
Yesterday we went to the humane society to pick out a cat so that our cat wouldn't be lonely. We couldn't find the right one. They were all so cute but none of them seemed like the belonged with us or we belonged with them. As we were leaving we literally bumped into a puppy in the hallway. He was on his way back to the puppy room. We picked him up just to say hello. We fell in love we asked if we could adopt him and were told he was already taken. We came home and both couldn't stop thinking about him. We decided that our home is just too empty without the joy of a dog.
We are now the proud parents of a 5 week old Golden Retriever. We won't be able to bring him home for another week but we can't wait. His name is Zach. He is precious. He had some siblings but he seemed to be the only one interested in us. When we sat him back in the grass he would run after my husband. So I guess he picked us
We still miss our Gero very much and are looking forward to having his ashes returned to us so we can bring him home, but this new puppy needs us and we need him so we are very grateful.
