Default Dr.'s Appt

Well, for those of you who listened to me whine about my crazy cy last month, I just got back from my dr.'s appt. The good news is, she thinks I'm ovulating. The "bad" news is, she thinks that I either had an additional egg that turned into a cyst and burst, or that the corpus luteum cyst burst, and that caused the spotting. I'm supposed to call and go in for a sonogram this month if the pain starts up again after O this cy. She thinks it is entirely possible that the cyst last month was a one time thing, but if it happens every cy, we'll develop a new plan of action. If the spotting starts up again, I'm going to start a progesterone supplement, and she'll give me a sonogram just before and just after O next cy. She said if we then can't resolve the spotting issue with progesterone supplements, she would put me on clomid in a few cys.

So, I'm glad to know that there was something going on, but that she doesn't think it will hurt our chances of conceiving.

That's great that you have some answers. I'll bet it's a relief to know where things stand.

I was just lurking on by when I noticed your post. Back in Jan. when I was diagnosed with PCOS I went in to the dr. because of really really bad pain every few months around ovulation. After an ultrasound she said PCOS, but that I had rupturing cysts and that she figured the reason I only had them every few months was because that's how often I was actually ovulating. I think she's right, because after starting Metformin I have them every month just not quite as bad as before.

Nichole - thanks for the comments. I really hope this doesn't become a monthly thing for me . . . I don't know how you do it! I was out of commission for almost 2 weeks - makes working quite difficult. I kept saying that I didn't understand how people can tolerate living off of bcp! I'm hoping it isn't like that every month. I was really worried that the rupturing cysts meant something about the egg quality, but she seemed to think it was no big deal - just uncomfortable.

Michelle - thanks for all of your support and input. I'm hoping for a luckier, relatively pain-free cy this time.

Yeah the whole idea of rupturing cysts really freaked me out a bit too, but the dr. didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about. I'm with you though, that pain is something else! There have been days where I couldn't move from the fetal position on the bed, had DH call in sick for me! I hope this doesn't happen for you all the time. I'm thinking that after we have a baby I'll go back on bcp because it seemed to control a lot of my problems just fine.

I'm with you, Nicholle! I can't WAIT to go back on bcp and my migraine medicine post-baby.
