Default Do you tell family members when you are ttc or planning to?

Just wondering because I ran into my dh's grandma in Wal-Mart tonight, and she asked me if we were pregnant yet. I was a little surprised because there has been no talk of us even planning for #4 yet, but apparently dh told her that we were going to start trying for a boy. I don't even tell my family I'm pregnant until it starts to become obvious, but since his grandma knows that we are going to ttc soon I'm sure it won't be long before my parents (and the rest of the world) know too.

It's been really hard for me not to tell family and friends. It's an exciting time and I want to share it with everyone! However, I don't want to have to explain each and every month whether or not I'm pregnant yet if it doesn't happen right away. I've told a few close friends, but am holding off on everyone else. Hopefully it won't take long to conceive your 4th and it won't be a problem that grandma knows. Good luck!

I've only told a few people, mostly family and friends that are either ttc themselves or have dealt with IF. I'm not that close to my immediate family so I haven't shared it with them.

Good luck, hopefully you'll be making a pg announcement soon. Are you ttc right away?

I don't know how people keep it a secret, honestly. With both the girls, we got pg the first month, so we're hoping that happens this time, too. Actually, with Kayleigh we didn't tell anyone we were ttc or pg until we were 6wks, when we told everyone at christmas. It was a pretty good surprise, but it just about killed me not to tell.

We told everyone last time we were preg. We miscarried soon afterwards and telling them about that was devistating! So I am hesitant to tell family about getting pregnant.

As far as TTC everyone knows! We put out a request for monetary gifts this Christmas to help out with the fertility expenses. We actually got enough to pay off the next IUI! I love my family!

But I also have a brother in-law who is from Senegal. He got us a really cool fertility statue and has a talisman coming for us next month and when we do actualy concieve we have to tell him (and my sis) so that we can get a charm we are suppose to wear to protect the baby! Cool huh? I'm not superstitious but I think this stuff is neat. We have people we never met in Africa praying for us and sending us charms and things to help us along the way!

I really don't know if we are going to tell anyone else the next time we concieve. It's hard to say. Hubby doesn't want to till we start to show but then he's a pushover at times!

I think it really depends on your relationship with your family members (or your in-laws). With us, for example, several of my very close friends know we are TTC, but both sets of parents don't know - we want to surprise them with good news, and we think it'll be less pressure on us if they don't know we're TTC. I'd say just go with what feels right, every family is different!

Best of luck!
