Default Claire? Re: Mirena removal...

I know that you don't know me. I am a long time graduate of this board back when I got pg with my daughter. I came back this week to the BabyDusty Mom & Dads board to find some advice, one of the girls there recommended that I find you. (She said you are a lovely woman too!).

I am having my Mirena removed on June 4 and we are considering TTC right away. I have a ton of questions that can't be answered by the pamphlet that came with my Mirena so maybe you can answer some for me since you have had yours removed?

I have had my Mirena for 3 years now, and absolutely love it. I don't have an AF, but I can still tell by my body that things are generally in the same cycle as before I got it.

Now here is my question... I have been looking online and the only information that I can find says that it's 100% reversible. I need some girl advice before I do to my doctor appointment. Please help! Did your cycles return to "norm" after it was removed? How long did it take? Do you think it's a bad idea to jump right into things or should I wait a bit? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Congrats on the return to the boards. Yep, my cycles returned to normal immediately. Actually they returned to a sort of super normal. I ovulated earlier. This is our first month actually trying though as I wanted to see how the first cycles went. Wish I hadn't bothered though. Those early cycles were great and I wish I'd used them.

I have ventured onto another website which has a forum for Post-IUD TTC and all the women there said the Mirena was great with many getting pregnant that first cycle after the removal. I think the only reason some docs tell you to wait is they like having a proper LMP date to date a pregnancy.

The removal was so painless (unlike the insertion) that i didn't even realise it was over!

Good luck! I would definitely try straight away if I was in the same position again though!

PS. Ignore my chart for this cycle. I think my thermometer isn't working!

I just had to say thanks! This thread was great! I also have the Mirena and was wondering the same thing. My problem is the IUD is "lost" inside me. I have to actually have a U/S so they can find it to pull it. I just bought a Clear Blue Easy Monitor, I also dont have AF but I think that I have still had a normal cycle of ovulation. The doc just said the monitor might help if we were in a hurry. Anyways, I am looking forward to this Tuesday when I have the u/s. Thanks for you info! Congrats on your baby! My DD was born the 25th in 06 and I am the 20th :o)
