Icon9 5 +OPK days and still counting, is this normal?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if it is normal to O for five days or possibly more?I am now really confused. First I was worried that I did not O and now that I had finally gotten a positive test on CD17 I am nowat CD21 and still show positive on my home kit for O. I thought it was a mistake so I tested twice today and am still showing as Oing. Anyone else experiance this before?

J.

Okay - you aren't O'ing for 5 days, but you appear to be surging for multiple days. I always surge for 2 days. THere are many reasons for multiple +OPKs. You could just be having a long surge. Or, you could be msireading the OPKs and thinking they are positive when they are just close to positive. Are you on any medicines like Clomid? I had a few days that I thought were +, but it turned out they weren't real + OPKs.

The only other possibility - sometimes people with PCOS can get a lot of + or almost + OPKs because they have an excess of LH in their system. Are you temping? That helps pinpoint whether you have actually O'd or not.

GL - hope you get some answers soon.

You could be right. It finally went back to normal on day 6. Is it always this confusing when you start off?

The lines I am pretty sure of those because the control line could barely be seen. I am not taking anything so I dont think that could be the issue. The weird thing is that on day six I tested at 2 am got a neg. tested at 10am got a positive and then tested again at 6 pm and got a neg. So maybe it is just picking up a differant chemical in my body? Also do you keep testing after you surge or do you wait to start again after your period comes? Just wondering if i should continue or not. Thank you for your help on this.

Sometimes it is confusing . . . and sometimes it is simple. It depends on if your body cooperates or not! Getting to know your body helps a lot, and I found charting quite helpful, too. No need to keep testing after you surge until next cy. People with "normal" surges usually only test until they get their first +OPK, then stop. I usually keep testing until I confirm O, because sometimes my body does weird things.

If you get multiple +OPK cy after cy, it could be a sign of PCOS (high levels of LH). Just something to keep in mind as you move forward.
