Default Sam and Avery's Appointment

Here's the low-down!

Sam:

37lbs (25%) and 40-3/4" (10%)

I took him to a local ENT about his ear tube that's left in his ear. She said that he needed to have it removed and possibly put a tube in the other ear. I did NOT get a good vibe from his doctor, I asked a legit question and she made me feel like I was dumb for asking. Anyways, I told his pediatrician (whom I ADORE) and she said that I need to trust my gut, and that if it was her she'd find another doctor.

He also got his form filled out for his physical which he needs for kindergarten. She wrote on his form that Sam may need an epi pen and/or benadryl if he is exposed to peanuts. We are going to have blood drawn to check for allergies, but the doctor said that a previous reaction is always the best indicator of an allergy. I'm SO glad she agrees with me! Now I just have to figure out what the procedure is for getting Sam set up with an epi pen and benadryl in school.

Avery:

21lbs 5oz (25%) and 28" (5%)

He is also having blood drawn to test for allergies. I'm probably going to take him tomorrow morning to get that done, I really want the results back ASAP! He's still on his special formula now, even though he's 1 year old because I have no idea what kind of "milk" they'll want to put him on if he's allergic to dairy and soy. I suggested we wait until Aug. 8th when Avery sees his GI doctor next and we'll have the results from the blood test then too. She was absolutely fine with that. If we need to, we'll see an allergist also.

So far with Avery he's had reactions to milk, soy (oil), wheat, freeze dried strawberries, butternut squash and pumpkin. In addition we are also avoiding egg, peanuts, green beans (related to soy), peas (also related to soy), tree nuts, fish, and shellfish.

All in all it was a good appointment for both kids. She said she felt weird letting me leave without a prescription, because I've been in there so much lately LOL
