RJ got to go home this morning! (pics of baby)
Well, miracles never cease! Ashley & Russell went to the hospital early this morning and found a baby being given the final once-over so that he could go home! The doctors said that from about 4pm yesterday until this morning, he's made an amazing transformation and that they were confident that it was okay to take him home. Needless to say, Mom & Dad were very happy! He only weighs 4lbs 15ozs, but he's doing great.
Heading home with a smile
Big Yawn!

Taking a short nap
Thanks for endulging me Ladies! I'll quit with the pics now!!

Oh, Leisa, I'm so happy for you and your family! He is so cute! What a handsome little man! Don't apologize for pics, they're great!
BTW, I just noticed you're from the Houston area, I grew up in Houston and that's where I was visiting all last week (why I wasn't posting). My ILs live in Clear Lake and my parents live near the Galleria. Small world!

My Jewels....12/07 Where did I come from?" the baby asked its mother. In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother, and in her mother before her, you have lived."

Well Jacqueline ... we are really hoping to go tomorrow, at least for 2 days ... but it's up in the air ... lots of factors in play.
I'm just so glad that he's doing so well and is home. If I have to wait, I can do it ... maybe ... sure I can ... I think ...

Re: RJ got to go home this morning! (pics of baby)
Here's one of those factors I was mentioning ...

Our Blue Heeler had puppies this morning, and we can't exactly go off and leave them for 2 days!
What timing ... right?

Re: RJ got to go home this morning! (pics of baby)
Well, no going to see DD & the new baby this weekend ... DH ended up having to work today ... AND ... we're having to take care of the runt of the litter ourselves. The 3 bruiser-males are shoving her out of the way constantly. We went to Wal-Mart and got Milk Replacement for her and we're feeding her out of a baby bottle with a preemie nipple! I've never had pupplies like this before ... it's incredible. She slept in a basket with a towel double folded over a heating pad. She wakes up every 2 hours to eat. Between her and Cooper, it was a fun-filled night!
I'm taking them to the vet on Tuesday to get their tails docked and their du-claws (sp?) removed. This is all so new to me. The girl on the phone at the Vet squealed when I told her we were bringing in the puppies ... she said they haven't had newborns in for a while and that everyone is going to be so excited! I thought that was kind of funny.
We have named the runt, Peanut. The biggest brat of the boys is Brutus and we are still working on names for the other 2. Any suggestions?!
Thanks for putting up with all my goofy posts! Y'all are wonderful!

Leisa, I'm so glad to hear your grandbaby was able to come home. He's is just adorable! I love the pic of him smiling (who says they can't smile that young?). I hope you can work everything out so you can go see him soon.

Re: RJ got to go home this morning! (pics of baby)
The baby and the pups are adorable! I hand raised a puppy once - her mother got sepsis and almost died and I had to hand raise her. Be very, very careful that she doesn't aspirate the milk - that can cause pnuemonia. I hand raised an English Setter pup - is that about the same size as a blue heeler?? I used a playtex nurser (the one with the little baggie) and it worked perfectly because the nipple was almost exactly the same size as the mother dog. Hand raising a pup is a challenge, especially early on. Is it possible to let her nurse at all by herself (take the bruiser pups out)? Mother's milk is important at this time. You could also milk her some and add it to the puppy milk replacement formula.Best of luck with that! Oh, be careful what you keep her in - try to keep the fibers natural. We kept her in my old baby blanket and we think it is polyester (or some kind of blend) and she had an allergic reaction to it.
