Default New to this board

Hi

My name is Tina. I used to post on the 'over 35 board' when I was TTC a few years ago. It took us 18 months to get a BFP for my son, who is now 2 1/2. He is the joy of my life, but we would really like to give him a little brother or sister. We've been TTC again for about a year and having no luck. I'm 41, DH is 42. I'll be 42 in November.

We had a consultation at a fertility clinic yesterday that was less than encouraging, to say the least. My day-3 FSH at Easter was 4.0 and is now measuring 11.3, suggesting I'm heading towards menopause. Essentially, I was told there is little they can do for us and that our chances are very small. You all know the stats... they sure are depressing! Our only options are to just keep trying ourselves, try IVF (we'd have a 3-5% chance of success), try a donor egg, or adoption.

I know I'm not 25, or even 35, anymore but having it spelled out was hard to hear. I've been feeling weepy, depressed, stressed and bummed ever since we left the doctor's office. On the other hand, I see so many happily pregnant women over 40 here and that gives me new hope. (I am so thrilled for all of you!) I personally know several women who got pregnant and had very healthy babies over the age of 40, so I know that it's not completely impossible that it could still happen for us too.

Did any of you pregnant ladies have a high FSH level and beat the odds? I'm needing any straws I can grasp right now. This morning I woke up with a new resolve to do whatever it takes to be able to say I gave it my best shot. I started taking my temps again and am planning to make an appointment with an accupuncturist who has apparently helped quite a few couples who were having fertility issues. I figure it can't hurt. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

Hi Tina

I remember seeing your posts on over 35. I conceived my youngest at 42, so be sure it can happen. I think it's super we have so many preggods over here. I think our oldest natural conception over here in the last 5 yrs has been a 1st timer at age 45. Let us know how the accupunture goes, and best wishes.

Welcome!!

Where did I come from?" the baby asked its mother. She answered, half-crying, half-laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast: "You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling. You were in the dolls of all my childhood games. In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother, and in her mother before her, you have lived."

i don't know if this will help, but my dr. recently told me.... over15 is bad, 10-15 isn't good, but nowhere near hopeless, and anything <10 is good.

Hi and thanks Jaqueline and Jess.

And it does help to hear that 10-15 is "nowhere near hopeless". The scary thing my doctor said is that it's really hard to measure the level because it's up and down so much. When you're younger, it's up and down but always under 10. Once it starts popping up over 10 it gets worrying. Unfortunately I have no idea how long the transition from 'always under 10' to always over 10 is. Oh well... I'll try to stay hopeful!

Hi Tina, welcome to the group : )

Let me just say I'd do just about anything for a CD 3 FSH of 11!!! That is NOT that high. I'm working with 38.4 and my inhibin B a year ago was down to 7.2.

Best wishes on whatever avenue you choose to take to become a mommy again : )

Welcome to the board! I personally used a process called NAET, it is rebalancing process that can help with hormone balances, similar to accupressure but more complex. I remember very well leading up to my BFP having to have treatments to my FSH levels and it appartently worked. Good luck! I would mention the FSH when you have your accupuncture.

Thanks Kristi and congratulations on your imminent arrival! I've finally made an appointment with an accupuncturist who specializes in fertility issues. She also does something called Neurolink, which may be somewhat similar to NAET? She sounds much more encouraging than the RE and she has a lot of clients my age. I'm staying hopeful.
