In need of experienced advice
I am 44 and overweight and suffered a miscarriage about 8 weeks ago. Do you think it would be dangerous for me to have a baby? I don't have high cholesterol, or high blood pressure but I am about 90 pounds overweight, I should be a size 4/6 and I'm a size 20....pushing 22. Do you know anyone around my age who was overweight that succussfully had a baby or vice versa.....had something bad happen? My father had a heart attack in his 40's but he was a smoker and had a very stressful job....or that's just my excuse, though I know he did have high blood pressure and high cholesterol which I do not have. I have one child but would love one more but am worried I am not fit enough to have one safely. I did have a physical in June before TTC and the OB gave me the go ahead but I've gained probably 15 pounds since then eating my sorrows away after the m/c rather than exercising them away.
I need to make a decision as I could try ttc again in January, I'm scared and either need reasurance to try again or that it's best to put the baby making plans to rest. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: In need of experienced advice
Hi
My thoughts...... I wouldn't let it stop me if it's what I wanted. I would certainly try to curb my intake and maybe to a Weight Watcher's maintenanc while PG, but yep.....I'd do it!! JMO.
Good luck with your decision.

Re: In need of experienced advice
I totally agree. I am almost 44 myself, overweight, with high blood pressure and a few other problems and the OB doesn't see any reason to not try. It does mean high risk care, but then anyone over 35 these days seem to be "High Risk"
Good luck and lots of

Re: In need of experienced advice
Well, I would say go for it. I will be 44 in April and I was overweight when I got pregnant. I'm sure that's partly why I didn't gain much during the pregnancy. Plus, in the almost 8 weeks since delivery, I've lost 30lbs, when I only gained 10!!
Just listen to your Doctor carefully and think positively. I wish you lots of luck!

Re: In need of experienced advice
Oh my gosh, thank you so much, I had no idea there were so many of us young ladies around ttc If my cycle is normal, looks like New Years Eve will be the night....I find that very ironic for some reason.
Thanks again and good luck to all!

Re: In need of experienced advice
Hi, I hope you don't mind me jumping in here and posting, but I wanted to share my own experience with you. My last baby was born 10 months ago at the age of 42. I am also overweight but don't have high cholesterol or high BP. My pregnancy with Isabella was actually easier than some of my other ones (go figure). My advice to you is if you really want another baby then go for it. I mean before bc women had babies well into their 40's and did just fine. Best of luck!
