My Jewels....12/07 Where did I come from?" the baby asked its mother. She answered, half-crying, half-laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast: "You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling. You were in the dolls of all my childhood games. In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother, and in her mother before her, you have lived."

Re: Karen (RemnLou)!!!(PG ment.)
So much to tell...Currently I am sitting at the Ronald McDonald house in Rochester (Strong Memorial Hospital) while baby Collin recovers from open heart surgery!!
The birth went very well. I actually had made an unexpected trip to the Dr. the day before as I had been spotting for days. We wanted to make sure that I made it to the csection rather than labor as I tested positive for Strep B. Collin weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz..just what I had guessed from the start!! He is 20 1/2 inches long. According to the monitor upon arrival I was having contractions every 4 mins....but as is typical for me I really didnt feel many of them. If we had scheduled any later I am sure this little guy would have been born before we had the chance to get to the csection. About 3 hours later Collin went to the nursery and I went to my room. It wasnt 15 mins after this that I was hit with the news that he was VERY sick and was transfered to the NIC unit. At this point they really had only guesses but were stabilizing him for the trip to another hospital more able to take care of him. The nurses quickly took out the IV and cath so that they could freely and quickly wheel me to the NIC unit to say good bye. We were told about an hour later by phone that he had Transversion of the Great Arteries. Basically the two main arteries in his heart were switched and he was getting no oxygen to his blood. They went in and did a quick fit so that they could stabilize him enough so he would live..but this was a temporary fix until he could be transported to Rochester. Yesterday he had his surgery which took about 7 hours. He is listed as critical right now. The next day will tell all.
Let me just say though..what a wonderful baby he is!! In the little time I have had with him he has just been such a trooper. He doesnt cry much at all. I was able to nurse him a few times before he went to surgery. I will try to update when I have more.

Re: Karen (RemnLou)!!!(PG ment.)
Oh, Karen!! You've been through so much already! Wow... what a lot to wrap your brain around. I will pray that he improves quickly and goes home with you soon. It's great that he was able to nurse before surgery. He's a good size too. Please let us know how he does. And it sounds like you are holding up remarkably as well. How are you doing? Have you even had time to stop and focus on your surgical recovery? I'm looking forward to hearing some good news about you both. It will be so nice when you can both get home an settle into a normal routine. Gosh, he must really be a trooper. What a way to start your little life.
Welcome baby Collin!
If you need or want help posting any pics, I'll walk you through it when your ready.
