Hello!!!
Hi Ladies
My name is Shay(Sherri) and im 44 years old with 4 kids ages 11 to 23.I was on the old boards a few years ago ...i remember mammajac and look at how big your little one has become...you had just gotten pregnant when i left.Jen to if i remember right. The boards were allot more active then...spermie soup
Anyway i am here because my DH wants another one NOW....when i was here before it was me that wanted one and he really wasn't into it but let me have my way,i got pregnant after 6 months using vitex...i lost it when i quit taking them...doc said it made my progesterone fall to fast...my fault on that one.So to make a long story short i quit tiring and moved on with life...it was hard but i am happy now....then the other night we are sitting out on the porch and he out of the blue says he wants us to have another baby...to say i was shocked is a big understatement
So my question to you ladies...what are the odds at 44 and is it considered high risk, what are some of the risks at my age?...Im so confused at this point that i cant rap my mind around it all to figure out what i want. Its been so long that i cant remember any of this stuff.
Im so confused
Just in case i do decide to try i have started charting again just to see what my temps are doing now and so far so good, looks the same as before.
So any advise for me ladies would be so appreciated.

Re: Hello!!!
Hi Shay!
The board is a little more quiet than usual, but don't get discouraged. You'll get some good advice and lots of support being here. Everyone has their own unique story.
I just turned 44 and I conceived naturally last year (without trying!), after 2 miscarriages, and had a beautiful baby boy in October. I was lucky enough to not have to go through all the medical procedures that so many of the women here have done. My advice is to just have a positive outlook and do NOT listen to all the negative comments you will get. Hopefully you won't have many, but it seems like they come out of the woodwork for some reason! There is nothing wrong with wanting to have a child ... whether it's your 1st or your 5th ... even in your 40's! The risks may be a little higher at our age ... but look at what you get!
Good Luck!

Re: Hello!!!
Shay ... I'm not sure I would say "discouraged" ... but I did get very disappointed after my last 2 miscarriages. I was always very very fertile, and also had several miscarriages in my earlier years with my ex. Then when DH and I got married in 2003 and decided we wanted a baby together, I figured "no problem". Not only was it a little harder to conceive, but then I m/c'd twice. That's why we gave up and bought a house instead! Besides, I was a Grandma by then, so I figured I'd just pour all my energy into my DGD! Then, viola! I was pg, without even trying! Any doubt I had about having a baby at this age, has completely gone away. We enjoy him so much ... I can't even begin to tell you!
A good attitude will make a huge difference for you. If other people can't say something nice, then they shouldn't say anything at all! I hope it all works out the way that's best for you and your family.

Re: Hello!!!
Hi Sherri
What was your name on the previous boards? Yes, JenninSeattle had her son and M/C'd a couple more times, but then was again expecting before she dropped off the face of the earth. I always wonder about her. Cycle buddies is DEAD compared to how it used to be.
I have nothing but encouragement for you. Ignore the naysayers. If you wanna do it.... DO IT!! Check out the link stickied at the top of the board to successful PGncies over age 44. I have a frend I corresond with in the UK who conceived at 46 naturally. They did newpaper article about her over there. And charting is a great idea. When I was younger and more fertile I really had no clue about my body. Charting really helps. I still O like clockwork. I feel like a pro now.
So.... stick around! Love to have your company. If you have any questions, just ask away.

Re: Hello!!!
Thanks Jacqueline
I cant remember what my old user name was..it could have been pnuts100 but im not sure.
My DH and i are going to sit down again tonight and talk more about this so that i can decide one way or the other...maybe get past my fears...it was so easy when i was younger...never even worried about it,all my DH had to do was look at me and i would become an incubator I do know that i don't want to go through the stress i did last time i was tiring so i will just stick to this board and not a ton of them.AND NO HERBS THIS TIME By the grace of God!!
Well off to make that coffee and have a chat with DH.
Hugs to all!!
