Default update on Me (pg mentioned)

Just got back from my second appt! THe baby's heartbeat is strong and the child looks great! The doc was very pleased and very knowledgable. SHe changed my prenatal. I told her the natafort was constipating me. She sort of turned her knows up at natafort and told me not to take it. She has a 14 month old so she has first hand experience as well. So, she gave me samples of citrical to see if I like it. She also wants me to take Omega 3 supplements. She said that the studies that she is seeing are showing that this supplement has a great affect on cognitive development of the baby, breast feeding and postpartum depression amongst other things. The only little glitch is that my blood pressure was elevated. So, now I have to check it once per week and let them know how it goes. I was very nervous about the appt. I wanted everything to go well and I was needlessly worrying. So I am hoping that my blood pressure was up because i was nervous. Also, I lost 5 pounds! The doc was not worried though. I have not had bad morning sickness but i have had a ton of food aversions. So I guess thats the culprit.

All in all, DH and I had a great appt today! When I saw the baby, I just cried. I feel so happy that everything is going well. Oh, the baby is measuring 9 weeks 1 day, so the due date remained the same

Kim, great appointment.

One of the best investments I ever made was bought myself a BP machine. I would go insane without it. I'd keep a log of my BP, noting it three times a day. That gave me a great base and I would be instantly aware of any variations on my BP. And remember if you do have BP problems, bedrest is a great way to alleviate it.

Great going

Thanks ladies! Elizabeth, great advice!
D, toss some names up! For a boy, we are leaning toward Chase Dylan Thompson. For a girl, its a little more up in the air. Either Imani Grace Thompson or Madison Leigh Thompson. We are still way open on the girls names. We are almost sure on the boy's name.

Kim, also if you get a high reading at the doctor's office, wait for a couple of minutes and ask the nurse to take it again. It usually drops.

Ask them to take it AFTER the u/s!
My blood pressue was always higher than normal before getting that reassuring u/s or the doppler. Once I started feeling her kick on a regular basis, my bp was perfectly normal at every doctor's appointment.

Kim,

I'm glad to hear everything is going so well for you! You have a smart doctor, telling you to take omega 3. I've been taking it for a while now and plan to continue it throughout my pregnancy, if I am pg or get to be soon.

One thing...make sure you get a really good brand of omega 3, without the pcb's, mercury, etc. I buy Spectrum brand. There are several others that are good too. It will tell you on the label that it has been tested for pcb's or that it is molecularly distilled. Then you know it's a good one.
