Default My Excitment

So, I've had some fun lately. Monday afternoon I ended up in the ER with calf and some chest pain. I has a blood clot in my leg 4 years ago, so it happening again is a big concern.
I had my blood tested for a clot and it was positive, and my kidney function was higher than the average person's. So, I had a chest x-ray (which I presume was normal, didn't hear any different). But because the blood test for a clot was positive, I had to do additional testing. Yesterday I spent 11.5 hours at the hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a doppler u/s of both legs (no clot!! whoohooo) and a test called a V/Q and that one showed a 'defect' in the left lung ......
Sooooooooooooooooooo, because of the 'defect' I had to have a CT scan. But, since the blood test the night before showed elevated creatinine levels (kidney) I had to be sure to be well hydrated prior to the test (so the dye etc...would not cause kidney failure), so I had IV fluids for an hour before the test. Thankfully, another blood test showed normal creatinine levels, so I didn't have to have the 5 hours of IV fluids AFTER the CT scan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, the CT was normal, but, there is some concern on my end about the kidney thing and the positive test for a blood clot.

So, that was my exicitement for the week!
(OH, and, in order to have the V/Q I had to have a beta done, because of the radioactive material used in the test - and it was negative (2 was the value))

OMG! How awful! So glad that you came out ok (if not a little worried). Sounds like that was no fun at all. Strange that you got a beta of 2. I wonder what that meant. Hope you continue to feel better.

I'm glad you're ok. Blood clots can be scary. Are they going to follow up on checking for anything else in the lung?

A beta of 2 means that there is no pregnancy. Anything below 5 is considered negative......And darling AF came to visit this morning!
