Default Getting back on the TTC bandwagon - Advise on charting?

Hi I was posting regularly about 1-2 years ago when I was TTCing #1. Now we are getting ready to try for #2! We wanted to try on our own for a few cycles before going back to the RE. I wanted to make the most of our natural cycles. I think part of our problem last time was that I don't make much CM. I also had a hard time charting and I think we waited to long to after getting a +OPK.

So how can I get better CM? Is there a reliable place to order Preseed from?

Charting.. Ok I think I need the Dummy's guide to charting. I have a hard time with the temps because between my insomnia and Aileen's waking up at random time I can't take temps very well. If anyone knows of a simple easy way to keep track of temperature, CM and cervical position, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

P.S. Yes I know I should be on the over 40 board, but I know a lot of you (esp Dee!) are experts at charting.

Jilda

You can order preseed from Amazon.com Or, you can use astroglide. It worked really well for me.

Start an account on Fertility Friend ( www.fertilityfriend.com ) for charting. They will give you a VIP membership for free for 30 days. FF won't verify ovulation until three days after the fact, but at least you'll know that you did indeed ovulate or not. You'll want to take your temp every morning when you wake up, preferrably at or around the same time each day. I know of no "easy" way to check your cm and cp except by sticking your very clean fingers up there and seeing what you find. When your cp is nice and high, you are probably very fertile. As well, if you see ewcm, start having sex! And keep having a lot of sex until FF says you have ovulated.

Start taking Evening Primrose Oil to help your body create ewcm. I don't know if it really helps, but I started taking chlorophyll tablets because I was having light periods and wanted to increase my blood supply. It might have worked because the period before I became pregnant was good and heavy. Or at least heavier than my periods had been before.

Also, be sure to take your prenatals and extra folic acid.

Good luck!

Get the book TCOYF (take charge of your fertility) by Toni Wechsler. It's one of the best investments you will ever make. It will explain more than you could ever think possible. And you will refer back to it over and over again.

If you aren't comfortable with inserting your fingers, do kegels for a few minutes before you go to the WC. That will move most CM down for you to wipe.

Maybe it's not that you don't make enough CM but maybe it's too thick? Try guaifenessin (robitussin with NO letters on it), or better yet mucinex in the pill form). Drink lots of water (1/2 oz per lb of body weight), and if you like Grapfruit juice, then drink up! Oh, and baby carrots. I love those!

Oh, and green tea. Just up your intake of folic acid because it may leach your system it.

Honestly, I would stay away from the astroglide. Preseed is the only one that's ever been researched to minimally affect the little guys. Actually, astroglide fared worst of all the tests: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medi...p?newsid=32261 (just scoot down to about middle)

I think it's awesome that it worked for meadowgirl, but you've been at this for a while, so you don't need anything compounding the issues.

I am so excited for you by the way. Aileen is just beautiful.

Do NOT order from thefertilityshop.com, unless you want to get ripped off and not have any of your emails or phone calls returned.

Thanks! I really appreciate all the advice. I'm midcycle right now and have sort of practicing the suggestions. Hopefully by the time the next cycle starts I'll be in the practice of remembering to take my temperature and doing cervix checks.

Thanks Jo for letting me know where not to get pressed. That really sucks.
