Default First IUI Completed! Now the wait........

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this group and am not familiar with all the lingo yet. My name is Cindy, lucky wife to Mike. I'm 35 1/2 and have been off the pill since October 2004. No luck with getting pg yet. We weren't able to try every month due to a fractured tailbone, laproscopy and having to take the pill to regular elevated estrodiol. I was diagnosed with PCOS recently and started Lupron and Repronex last month. We completed an IUI last Sunday and now wait. I have so many mixed emotions that I'm sure you can relate with. Wish us luck!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SOOO SOOO sorry. I didn't mean to butt in, ladies. I just saw this post as the most recent under the ttc and clicked on it not noticing it was TTC 35+. I really thought it was under IUI. Hope I didn't offend.

Hi Cindy!

We can wait together! I just had my first IUI too! I'm afraid I'm more anxious than usual, I'm pinning all my hopes on IUI working....it's going to be a long wait. Do they want you to go in for a progesterone test at day 7? I'm not sure I'm up for that but can't decide.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It took we awhile to find my way back to this thread. I'm SO new to message boards and navigating at snail speed. I'm on day 6 of the 2WW. I'm nervous because I feel PMSy, but I'm told not to worry because the symptoms could be early signs of pregnancy too. My boobs have been hurting though for 2 wks already. I'm not having any testing at day 7. My doctor just told me to call IF I get my period. I'm clueless as the the PCOS diagnosis and totally confused because I thought that was only diagnosed if periods were irregular which mine were not. I've lost over 45 pounds and don't eat desserts. Can you guys fill me in with what the bars under each of your posts represent? I know there is a pg tickler, but what are the others?

The bars are usually either tickers or a link to a persons chart. Like Donna's is a ticker of her chart so it tells you that she is 2 days past her IUI. If you use Fertility Friend to chart you can create a ticker that is linked to your chart so others can look at it. You can get a cy ticker or weight loss ticker or a ticker for just about anything for free at tickerfactory.com for free and they walk you through it. It's very easy. Linking it to siggy is a little more complicated...

if you need help feel free to email me patty@on-the-gopetsalon.com or you can go to the members helping members board. or just ask here...

What do you all think about the HPT that they advertise you can take 5 days before your missed period? Anyone used it before? I have 1 more week to wait and I'm very anxious. Yesterday I did some scrapbooking which really kept my mind occupied and I got to be creative. Do some of you just wait to take the blood test?

I am a POAS addict so there is no waiting for me...My last IUI i POAS everyday after IUI to see when the trigger was gone (for me it took about 5 days) so then I waited another 4-5 and started again...

I do not even remember what kind of tests I took. I think most of them were Internet cheapies. Maybe someone else has had experience with the early detection kind.

I can not wait...Did your dr tell you to come in for a beta???? Or did he tell you to poas and call him?? I think it usually takes about 10 days for trigger to leave your system...

I think you are pg!!!!!

AF came today. Going to the the doctor tomorrow morning at 8:30AM. Any suggestions as to questions I should ask him would be appreciated. I need to be more active in my treatment and not just leave it blindly to the professionals.

Hi Cindy, (I posted this in 2ww but I wanted to post it here too)

I'm sorry about AF coming we'll start again together because I'm not trying to be neg but I POAS today and it was a BFN so don't feel bad. Listen, I called today to inquire about the OB Watch and I spoke to a nurse who gave me some very good information. She said that she has seen so many women get the IUI and she believes that many of our RE's are not timing the IUI's right. I explained to her when I go in to have my follies checked and how long it is before the IUI and she thinks my RE is missing my ovulation. She said after the hcg shot you can literally O within 2 hours or so. In my heart of hearts I thought I was O very soon after the hcg shot as well and could possibly be missing the egg.

She suggested that i ask my RE to give me the hcg shot and the IUI in the same way. She said he may not want to do it that way but to insist that he try for me this one time. She said what do you have to loose? she said if he won't do it for me then to bd just before I go and get my hcg shot and then everyday after.

I'm really confused with all of this you guys. There is so much information that I'm just now learning on my 3rd IUI possibly going into my 4th. I came to this board because many of the women here know the process so much better than I do. I feel like crying... Oh God I had DH go and buy me a therm last night so I can try doing everything I can possible. I looked at a chart and it was so confusing to me about how to chart. Can someone offer me some help on what I should do to get this process right. What should I be doing (crying).. I think this is all starting to get me down and I'm trying my best to think positive about all of this...help

That's very interesting what you were told. I had 5 iui's and none of them worked. When i got preg. this past spring, the only time i bd'd was when it should have been way too early to make a difference. Even though the hormone surge is supposed to be 24-48 hrs before "O", i think for me, it is happening at pretty much the same time. That's the only way i can explain it. Even for this current pg, it seems like the timing was earlier than what all the literature predicts it should be.

Can you do more than one iui for each cycle? If not, then definitely work on bd'ing for a few days before what the dr suggests.

As for the temp charting, don't sweat it. Start off fairly simple. Just take your temp every morning at about the same time and write it down. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense right away. At first it will probably look like random stuff. Just keep at it, and it will start come clearer. Also, as you chart, you will have a reference to ask the rest of us about. When i started all this, i was utterly clueless. We all have to start somewhere. And sometimes i still feel so clueless it's pathetic. But that's why we're on here, to pool our knowledge and make some sense out of it all.

That's interesting...Are you using fresh sperm? (not previously frozen) if so it can live upto 5 days in quality cm. So it would be ok to get the iui at the time of trigger. I know for me I O'd 27 hours after the iui 36 hours after the trigger. I know this because of my temp. shift and I felt it happen. I am using prev. frozen so it did not live long enough for the egg.

Head over to the charting board and look at the first few threads they say "sticky" there should be one on how to chart. A really good book on how all this works is Taking Charge Of Your Fertility.

Good luck sweety!!!! Try to stay positive.
