Hi all,
(This is why I've been busy.)
A year ago I sponsored Dawn in my Arbonne business when
she was seven months pregnant. At the time, her doctors had found an
abnormality with the baby's brain and this was confirmed when Dawn
delivered Dezra Eve in May of 2005. The little girl has been diagnosed with Microcephaly, which in turn causes her brain to have abnormal communications with her body leading to seizures, to
apnea, and now a feeding tube. What exactly is happening is that her
brain is shrinking. She has a problem with processing energy on the
cellular level. It is either a defective mitocondria or the way the
cell accepts the energy. The first way, the doctors can make her
comfortable and possibly extend her life (although very little). The
latter, well, let's just say there is nothing they can do. The
doctors are ascertaing the level of her condition. Either way, she
doesn't have long to live. (I need to dust off my college
biology books.) The doctors have not given Dawn and her husband a
time frame.
Dawn needs to stay with Dezra because of the feeding and breathing
tubes, and her husband is working ridiculous hours to keep the family
afloat after suffering a three-month lay off. I understand that they
have this month's rent but no money for bills, gas, food, etc. The
situation is dire.
I have decided to raffle an Arbonne RE9 set. This is our top of the
line anti-aging set which includes 7 pieces and the carrying bag.
This retails for $266, plus tax and shipping. I am selling raffle
tickets for $10 each in the hopes of raising $1000.
I spent Thursday morning with Dawn and she seems to be at peace
today. Her spirits amazes me. She doesn't want people to feel sorry
for her and her husband. She wants prayers and good thoughts.
I know that Dawn is not part of our club, but think of this way:
she's part of an extended club mother's club. I cannot imagine
caring for a terminally ill child while knowing that I didn't have
money to put food on the table for my other child or put gas in the
car to visit her while she hospitalized.
If you would like to help, please email me at
loveyourskin@comcast.net or PM me here. I am a long time member of SheKnows forum and raised money for a gal who lost her home in Hurrican Katrina. PM for her name and she will tell you that I'm legit! I am happy to say that one of my on-line friend won the raffle last time, which was our holiday bath line. I will also refer you to my website, so you can feel at ease purchasing a ticket! I don't feel comfortable having my full name listed here. I'm sure you understand.
Thanks so much for your consideration.
